The Bright
Although Millennial Pink dominated the Instagram feeds
of this year’s Milan Fair attendees, for those with an
appetite for colour other than that shade of blush, there
were equally fine pickings. Here are six of the brightest:
The playful, amusing and surprising
work of Prague-born designer Boris
Klimek is characterised by its capacity
to delight and his Lollipop lighting
collection for Lasvit no different. Its
unusual organic shape and the platelike
surface is a result of Klimek’s
fascination with transparency and
perception and was achieved after
much experimentation with slumped
glass to get just the right colouring,
glint and internal structure.
Illuminated by an internal light
source held together by a metal holder,
the table and stand-alone lamps, as
well as pendant lights are reminiscent
of beloved childhood sweets.

Outdoor furniture has come a
long way from generic plastic deck
chairs, and Pedrali’s charming
vignette of cacti and a glowing
sun set the scene for Sunset, an
outdoor collection by Alessandro
Busana. What is, in essence, an
outdoor sofa set, the angular lines
of the polyethene are softened with
rounded corners to make for a less
severe profile. Available in various
modular setting, seat dimensions
are suitably generous and perfect
for slouching languidly on while
sipping on sundowners (there’s even
a small attachment to rest your
cocktail glasses). Outside casings
come in white, beige and sand while
cushions in tranquil shades of blue
are available although the burnt
orange is best for maximum impact.
