LIVESTOCK SPECIAL RULES<br />

OUR FAIR WILL OPERATE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF OHIO’S LIVE STOCK SHOW REFORM ACT<br />

AND UNDER APPLICABLE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE RULES.<br />

THIS LAW AND THE AMENDED RULES MAY BE VIEWED AND/OR SECURED AT THE SECRETARY’S<br />

OFFICE, BEGINNING JULY 1.<br />

SHOULD VIOLATION BE DISCOVERED AFTER THE SALE, ALL SALE MONEY SHALL BE RETURNED TO THE BUYER<br />

AND THE ANIMAL OR CARCASS SHALL BE RETURNED TO THE EXHIBITOR.<br />

IN ALL LIVE STOCK AND POULTRY CLASSES,<br />

THESE REGULATIONS WILL BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT.<br />

THE MERCER COUNTY FAIR BOARD SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO REQUIRE ANY ANIMAL AT<br />

RANDOM, OR ANY OTHER SUSPECTED ANIMAL, BE SUBJECT TO EXAMINATIONS OR TESTS AS<br />

PRESCRIBED BY THE COMMISSION TO DETERMINE IF A SUB STANCE HAS BEEN ADMINISTERED<br />

TO THE ANIMAL TO CHANGE THE CONFORMATION OR TEMPERAMENT OF THE ANIMAL.<br />

IN THE QUESTION OF A RULE VIOLATION, THE FOLLOWING DUE PROCESS WILL BE USED: THE EXHIBIT OR<br />

IN QUESTION WILL BE QUESTIONED BY DEPARTMENT HEADS. IF IN FACT, A VIOLATION HAS OCCURRED, AND<br />

SATISFACTORY EVIDENCE HAS BEEN OBTAINED BY FAIR MANAGEMENT THAT AT RULES HAVE BEEN VIOLATED, THE<br />

EXHIBIT OR AN D/OR EXHIBITOR’S FAMILY WILL BE BARRED FROM SHOWING IN ANY FUTURE FAIRS FOR A PERIOD OF<br />

ONE (1) YEAR. IN CASE A PREMIUM HAS BEEN AWARDED TO VIOLATOR, PREMIUMS, RIBBONS, TROPHIES, AWARDS<br />

AND SALE MONEY WILL BE FORFEITED.<br />

GENERAL INFORMATION AND CONDITIONS GOVERNING LIVESTOCK<br />

CLOSING ENTRY DATE FOR ALL DEPARTMENTS IS 5 P.M., FRIDAY, AUG. 4, <strong>2017</strong><br />

1. Open to counties that are open to <strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>County</strong> .<br />

2. All entries must be made in the name of the bona fide owner .<br />

3. Both <strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>County</strong> residents and non-county residents must purchase an annual/exhibitor ticket (unless otherwise stated in<br />

that department rules) before entries will be accepted.<br />

4. All animals to be on the grounds and in place at the times stated in each department.<br />

5. Release time is stated in each department.<br />

6. All animals must comply with health requirements, which are outlined in this book. All health papers must be checked or<br />

premiums will be withheld. Check with the department head as to time and place of checking.<br />

7. Misrepresentation as to breeding and irregularity in showing will be exposed and any premium won by such exhibitor will be<br />

withheld.<br />

8. Premiums in each department will be awarded by a Judge selected by the Board of Directors. Judge’s decisions are final.<br />

9. Any protests against the payment of any awarded premium must be filed in writing with the Secretary on or before 12:00 Noon<br />

of the day following the event, accompanied by a deposit of $25.00.<br />

10. Premium monies not picked up at the designated time will be forfeited and revert back to the <strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fair Board.<br />

11. If receipts are grossly inadequate or insufficient to pay the expenses and premiums in full, the Directors shall prorate the<br />

payment of premiums paid (shall not be less than fifty percent of the amount awarded).<br />

12. The Board will take every precaution in its power for the safe preservation of stock on exhibition after their arrival and<br />

arrangement upon the grounds, but will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur . Exhibitors are required to<br />

give attention to their stock and, at the close of the fair , attend to their removal.<br />

13. Entries can be made by mailing the Entry Blank in the fair book with a check for an annual/exhibitor ticket plus any charges for<br />

entry fees or pens to: <strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>County</strong> Agricultural Society , P.O. Box 301, Celina, Ohio 45822.<br />
