1. Vicious acting dogs will be dismissed from the show and must<br />
be removed from the fairgrounds.<br />
2. Dogs in heat will be excused from the show.<br />
3. The member must attend at least 4 dog project work nights to<br />
be able to participate in agility classes in the show. Members<br />
must participate in 2 project work nights to show in all other<br />
dog classes.<br />
4. Permission to participate forms must be completed and turned<br />
in by May 1 to the <strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>County</strong> OSU Extension Office.<br />
5. Dogs are to be kept on leash at all times unless required to be<br />
off leash for show purposes.<br />
6. Dogs are not allowed in any livestock barn or on midway.<br />
Dogs must stay in general vicinity of show area.<br />
7. Dogs must have current vaccinations listed: distemper (CDV),<br />
adenovirus (CAV-1 & CAV-2), leptospirosis, parainfluenza<br />
(CPV), parvovirus (CPV), coronavirus (CCV), bordetella and<br />
rabies. Vaccinations must be documented with either an ODA<br />

1. A member may exhibit :<br />
a. A maximum of 2 animals in each Boer breeding class.<br />
b. A maximum of 2 animals (wethers or does) in the market goat class.<br />
2. All health regulations apply. See health rules.<br />
3. Market goats must have been born on or after January 1 of the current<br />
year.<br />
4. Market goats may be wethers or does and will be shown together in<br />
classes.<br />
5. Market goat classes will be divided upon the weight of the animals.<br />
Animal must weigh at least 45 pounds to be shown.<br />
6. Market meat-breed goats must be 100% meat goat breeding and display<br />
meat breed characteristics. Questionable animals will be disqualified.<br />
7. Animals shown in the dairy market goat class are to be 100% dairy goat<br />
breeding and display dairy type characteristics. Questionable animals<br />
will be disqualified.<br />
8. The same doe may shown in both a breeding class AND a market class.<br />
Does must be born after Jan. 1 of current year and entered into the<br />
appropriate age breeding class.<br />
9. All Boer breeding goats must be tattooed in the ear and this tattoo<br />
number must match tattoo numbers stated on animal’s registration<br />
papers. Registration papers are to be available for review during the fair.<br />
10. All market goats must be ear tagged with county-issued tags and<br />
Scrapie ID tags (or in the tail web in case of a LaMancha dairy goat). The<br />
wxhibitor must have animal tagged at county weigh-in to be held in the<br />
spring at the fairgrounds or may elect to have an approved veterinarian<br />
tag their animal at the exhibitor’s expense. Specific identification<br />
procedures will be mailed to enrolled exhibitors. In the case of a lost tag,<br />
the exhibitor is to notify the Extension Office within 5 days and request<br />
re-tagging of the animal. See identification policies.<br />
11. All market goats must be ear tagged with a scrapie tag before weigh-in,<br />
in the spring. If breeding animals do not have scrapie tag, the exhibitor<br />
needs to contact the USDA APHIS Veterinary Service office to be issued<br />
proper tags.<br />
12. All market goat animals weighed and tagged at the spring clinic will be<br />
official health certificate or the certificate of vaccination for the<br />
4-H dog show project. Vaccinations must be given after August<br />
of the previous year and before July of the current year by a<br />
licensed, accredited veterinarian.<br />
8. All dogs being shown must have a current county dog license<br />
tag. The tag may be worn on the dog’s collar or shown to the<br />
superintendent in charge by the handler.<br />
9. Premium is $2.00 per class shown.<br />

CANINE VERSATILITY AWARD<br />
This award will be presented to each dog-handler team that meets the<br />
qualifications required for versatility. The qualifications are: exhibitors<br />
must participate in obedience, showmanship, rally, agility, and skillathon.<br />
Every team that meets these requirements will receive the achievement<br />
award. A versatility top score will also be awarded. The top score will be<br />
a combination of class scores and skillathon score.<br />

not be eligible for the rate of gain contest.<br />
13. Families may share goats. A family means those junior fair eligible youth<br />
who are siblings, half-siblings or step-siblings.<br />
14. Family shared goat policies are as follows:<br />
a. Each exhibitor must identify one animal as their project. This animal<br />
cannot be shared by anyone else.<br />
b. Each exhibitor may identify a maximum of 4 additional animals as<br />
family shared goats.<br />
c. The exhibitor of the family shared goat must be stated when the goat<br />
is weighed at the fair.<br />
15. Horns: A maximum of 1 inch scurs are allowed on market goats. Boer<br />
breeding goats are allowed to have horns but the exhibitor must be<br />
willing to cover the horns upon request from the superintendent or<br />
fairboard.<br />
16. A premium of $5 per breeding animal shown will be awarded.<br />
17. All goats are to be kept in designated goat project area immediately<br />
around the barn.<br />
18. Only goats entered in the fair are allowed on the grounds. No young<br />
nursing goats unless these animals are entered in fair classes. All goats<br />
must be in the fair by 9 am Friday 8/12/16.<br />

20. Must be castrated / banded & dehorned at weigh-in.<br />

J-MG01 ....Junior Doe Kids – Boer – Born after April 1 of current year<br />
J-MG02 ..Senior Doe Kids – Boer – Born 1/1/through 3/31 current year<br />
