22ndCenturyMedia.com private school Guide 22nd century media | August 10, 2017 | 21 Regina Dominican prepares young women for higher education, life For nearly 60 years, Regina Dominican, a college preparatory Catholic high school for girls sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, has fostered academic excellence, truth, peace, and justice while challenging each student to develop leadership for life and respect for all races, cultures and faiths. Regina Dominican provides girls with an unparalleled college preparatory education that tailors a student’s schedule based on her strengths in order to challenge her to strive for academic excellence. With 12:1 student to faculty ratio, students receive individualized attention and instruction from an elite faculty of which eighty-four percent hold advanced degrees. The Regina difference is our dedication to creating an environment where girls learn best. In 2015, Regina Dominican took a progressive approach and introduced a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) lab in response to students’ wishes to explore fields that are still traditionally dominated by men. Fortyeight percent of the class of 2017 will be majoring in a STEAM related field this fall. Regina creates the environment for girls to ‘launch’ bravely and with confidence. The most recent class was accepted into some of the most prestigious universities in the nation, including Georgetown University, Northwestern University, Savannah College of Art & Design, The University of Chicago, The University of Michigan and The University of Notre Dame. Twenty percent of the members of the Regina Dominican class of 2017 were also named Illinois State Scholars, an honor only awarded to the top ten percent of students in the state. Outside the classroom, students can enhance their experience by joining one of the 12 varsity sports Regina Dominican offers. Seventy-two percent of students participate in at least one sport. The school also offers 25 different clubs and many service opportunities. Regina girls are leaders. As the only Catholic High School in Illinois to offer a Leadership Institute, Regina Dominican offers its students the unique opportunity to learn and embrace their strengths and to build authentic self-confidence that will set them apart from their peers. Regina Dominican encourages compassion for others, instills confidence, cultivates curiosity for what the world has to offer and promotes the values of lifelong learning and leadership. Join us from noon - 2 p.m. on October 22nd or 6-8 p.m. November 8th for our Open House events and explore first-hand how Regina Dominican provides a rigorous college preparatory program in a supportive, Catholic-based educational environment in the Dominican tradition.
