Entry requirements<br />
You will have undertaken screening to ensure<br />
you are working at entry level 3 <strong>and</strong> that you are<br />
able to achieve level 1 English <strong>and</strong> maths within<br />
a year. It is also expected that students complete<br />
their current course of study to the best of their<br />
ability, <strong>and</strong> maintain a positive approach to<br />
continuing their studies.<br />
Overview<br />
Learn the basic principles of plastering, how<br />
to use plastering tools <strong>and</strong> equipment <strong>and</strong> to<br />
identify the correct materials to use.<br />
As a trained plasterer you could work on housing<br />
sites, city developments, domestic extensions <strong>and</strong><br />
conservatories, new work, conversions or repairs.<br />
You could do site work or become self-employed<br />
<strong>and</strong> start your own business.<br />
The course includes:<br />
• Safe working practices<br />
• Information, quantities <strong>and</strong> communicating<br />
with others<br />
• Building methods <strong>and</strong> construction<br />
technology<br />
• Preparing background surfaces <strong>and</strong> plaster<br />
materials<br />
• Applying plaster to internal surfaces<br />
• Producing components from moulds<br />
• Forming s<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> cement screeds<br />
• Maths <strong>and</strong> English unless achieved GCSE<br />
grade 4 or above<br />
Steel toe capped boots <strong>and</strong> safety glasses are<br />
required.<br />

Overview<br />
This course is suitable for anyone not yet working<br />
in the plastering industry, who would like to gain<br />
the relevant qualifications to help them work<br />
towards becoming a professional plasterer.<br />

• Producing <strong>and</strong> positioning/securing fibrous<br />
plaster components<br />
• Applying plaster to internal surfaces<br />
• Maths <strong>and</strong> English unless achieved GCSE<br />
grade 4 or above<br />
