Experience the best of Italy’s famed cities—Rome, Florence, and
Venice—on this popular tour. From the dramatic landscapes of the
Amalfi Coast to the captivating St. Mark’s Square in Venice, our
comprehensive journey showcases ancient sites, priceless art, and
smaller towns off the beaten path.
Highlights Include
Amalfi Coast and Pompeii: View the stunning Amalfi Coast
from the sea, explore some of the magical hill towns, and enjoy the
breathtaking drive high above the azure Mediterranean. Spend time
in Pompeii to witness the remains of everyday life from A.D. 79,
when ash from Mt. Vesuvius entirely covered the town. En route to
Rome, stop at the Benedictine abbey of Montecassino, lovingly rebuilt
following its destruction in World War II.
Rome: Capture the essence of ancient Rome with a tour of the
Colosseum, currently being restored to new glory, and the Forum.
Step inside the Borghese Gallery to view masterpieces by Bernini,
Titian, Caravaggio, and other major artists. Plus, a day at the Vatican
showcases St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel and Vatican
Museums, featuring works by Michelangelo and Raphael.
Umbria and Tuscany: Discover the arts, churches, and unique
ambiance and history of these regions. Visit the scenic town and
cathedral of Orvieto and view Giotto’s priceless frescoes in the basilica
at Assisi. See how the traditions of hand-painted Majolica ceramics
continue today in Deruta. Stop in San Gimignano, famous for its
medieval watchtowers that once guarded the town, many of which still
pierce the sky. Walk along the medieval streets of ochre-colored Siena
to explore the fan-shaped Campo and visit the Duomo with art by
Michelangelo and Donatello.
Florence: Take a walking tour of the crown jewel of Tuscany. See
Michelangelo’s David and other sculptures at the Galleria
dell’Accademia and visit the revered Duomo with its stupendous
dome by Brunelleschi.
