Take a deep look into Cuba’s culture and geography through our new
cruise exploration—from Santiago de Cuba in the east to Havana and
Pinar del Rio in the west—as you enjoy the comforts of our sailing
yacht and an oceanfront hotel stay in Havana.
Highlights Include
Unique Panel Discussion: Learn more about the complexities
of Cuba from a panel of experts in Miami, then fly to Cuba the
next morning.
Santiago de Cuba: Explore this vibrant city for three days. You’ll
trace the history of the island’s religious and Afro-Cuban traditions
as well as the Spanish-American War and Cuban Revolution. Visit
the World Heritage site of Castillo San Pedro de la Roca and see the
15th-century Casa de Diego Velázquez, the oldest house in Cuba.
Trinidad: Delve into the arts and history of this colonial town, a
World Heritage site. Tour a museum showcasing Trinidad’s history
and watch rumba and salsa performances at an outdoor music center.
Cienfuegos: Gain insight into Ernesto “Che” Guevara in nearby
Santa Clara, the gateway to Cuba’s historically and agriculturally rich
central region.
Havana: Meet with people engaged in urban cultural issues; visit
Hemingway’s home, Finca Vigía; and take a guided tour of Old
Havana to hear about the preservation of its art and architecture.
Pinar del Rio: Spend a day in the Viñales Valley, a World Heritage
site known for Cuba’s agricultural efforts and western landscapes.
Learn about local organic farming from a farmer and his family, who
also host you for a home-style lunch.
Le Ponant: As you explore eastern Cuba, return each afternoon to
this sleek, three-masted sailing ship. The four-deck deluxe vessel
features welcoming cabins, ample deck space, two restaurants, indoor
and outdoor lounges, a bar, and small library. Following your cruise,
spend three nights along the Havana seafront at the elegant Melia
Habana in Miramar. Find more details on our website.
