Cruise along the dazzling, island-studded Adriatic coastline on a
voyage that showcases five countries, six World Heritage sites, and the
cultural influence of Greek, Roman, Venetian, Byzantine, and Slavic
civilizations.
Highlights Include
Croatia: From Venice, cruise along the Dalmatian Coast for historic
ports such as Split and Hvar. Enjoy a walking tour of Split’s historic
center, which encompasses the immense retirement palace built
by Roman Emperor Diocletian. On the island of Hvar, see the
lingering influence of the Venetians in its 17th-century squares.
Tour the charming island city of Korčula with its priceless collection
of medieval manuscripts and works by Tintoretto. And in exquisite
Dubrovnik, see the most famous landmarks of this iconic 15th-century
walled city, a World Heritage site. Plus, meet with local residents and
watch a folk music performance aboard ship.
Montenegro and Albania: Sail into the spectacular Bay of Kotor,
deeply carved into the Montenegrin mountains, and admire the
Venetian baroque Old Town of Kotor. Then travel to Butrint to see a
splendid 3rd-century B.C. amphitheater, which accommodated 1,500
people, and buildings erected later by Roman Emperor Augustus, now
designated a World Heritage site.
Greece: Arriving at the Ionian island of Corfu, take a walking tour
of its Old Town, whose cosmopolitan influences are reflected in
elegant French boulevards, Georgian mansions, a Greek temple,
and a Venetian citadel. Stop along the Gulf of Corinth to ascend
the trail to the ancient site of Delphi, home to the mythical Oracle
and considered by the Greeks to be the center of the world. Then,
en route to Piraeus, cruise through the dramatic Corinth Canal, a
thrilling highlight
for sea captains and
travelers alike, since
this ultra-narrow
passage cuts through
the rocky Isthmus
of Corinth and is
navigable only by
small ships.
