The new consumer is hungry for ideas. He knows what is on the market
and is continuously searching for smarter solutions. Manufacturers are
coming up with some ingenious responses to this. They are introducing
multimedia marketing concepts. They are harnessing materials and
techniques from other industries. These range from low-tech (concrete
plaster, smocking) to high-tech (PVD-coated stainless steel). They are
creating unprecedented geometric alternatives. They are offering the
consumer every opportunity to ‘design’ his piece of furniture himself.
Reclining and lounging functions are harnessing ‘smart’ technology.
Warm metal
The Weaver table is set on retro ‘hairpin’ legs,
and the Harmon chair’s support is a derivative
version of these: the pins come together crosswise,
14 cm above the floor. Anyone bending
their legs backwards beneath the chair will find
a support for their feet.
COPPER
The crowning glory of these hairpins is their
exclusive finish. The metal is epoxy lacquered
using a new technique that results in a satin
soft, relatively warm feel. This copper coloured
or matte black coating feels considerably more
pleasant than stainless steel or conventional
epoxy lacquered material. What’s more, Unic
Design is the very first firm to be able to launch
this finish in the furniture industry.
The Pisa chairs have a comfortably upholstered
seat, in a choice of 60 colours. For the frame,
the standard range of 16 epoxy lacquers is
available. The accompanying illustration shows
the eye-catching brass option.
