think you will really dig this book. I took it on
the train home to Brighton, read it every night
and finished it on the train journey back. It really
just confirmed everything I theorised in my
head. How the universe doesn’t create life, life
creates the universe. So everything we see, we
see because we see it, if there isn’t an observer
then the universe wouldn’t exist. It’s like the old
proverb if a tree falls in a forest and no one’s
around to hear it does the tree make a sound?
and the answer actually is no, it doesn’t. Sound
waves go through the air and they are only
converted to sound when they hit our eardrums,
So there would be no sound if we weren’t around
to hear it. Its just really interesting to think
about.
So what would you class as some of your core
beliefs?
I believe if you have a positive outlook your life
becomes more positive. If you have a negative
outlook then your life becomes more negative,
It’s all in the way you view the world, so you
could be in the worst situations but as long as
you have a positive outlook it’s not going to affect
you, it’s not going to bring you down. When I
was growing up I thought right, if I’m a pessimist
and always expect the worst then I can never be
disappointed, and that was a horrible, horrible
way to look at the world, because it just meant
that I was always miserable and going through
the motions not really doing what I wanted and
thought, oh well bad shit happens and theres
no way to stop it. Now I look at the world in a
positive way. People want people to succeed and
want to help each other. Theres always going
to be some negative people but I choose not to
associate myself with them, When you change
your outlook and realise that you don’t need
some negative people in your life, you just start
to surround yourself with positive people. It’s not
even intentional it just happens. They are drawn
to you because of your energy I guess. I believe
in synchronicity and lots of little things sync up,
I get more work from it because I’m saying yes
to more things. I suppose I’m being myself more
rather than just hiding away. There’s always an
opportunity and depending on your outlook you
will decide whether to take that opportunity or
not.
You describe your art as a manifestation of your
journey, tell me more…..
It started out as I wanted a tattoo, I didn’t just
want some random piece of art, I wanted a
piece that means something to me. Im going
through this journey and I wanted something
that represented that and my new outlook on life,
I started thinking about how I could use shape
and form to represent that. I find it easier to
represent visually rather than verbally what I’m
going through on my journey. For instance on
this design (opposite page) you have the centre
which is empty which represents the ego then if
you branch out you’ve got an area which is the
people you surround yourself with, then you have
their egos, then outside of that you have got the
three circles which represent the expanse that
you you can delve into with consciousness, its
all connected. Another one of my designs was
inspired by my meditation practice, I started
realising that peace really did come from within
and I wanted to represent that, if you base your
whole sense of self from that than you will find
