The magic of the cup is back this weekend in
the FA Women’s Premier League.
Bradford City and Fylde are the only
Northern Division sides not facing lower
league opposition, as they take on each
other today at Eccleshill United.
Blackburn Rovers progressed the furthest
from the division last year, reaching the
semi-finals of the cup only to lose to runners
-up Charlton Athletic.
They take on Barnsley, bottom of Northern
Division One, hoping to start a similarly
fruitful run this year.
Most of the division go into their ties as
favourites.
Top of the table Huddersfield Town take on
recently-relegated Newcastle United, while
Leicester and Derby County will hope to
maintain their 100 per cent records against
Chorley and Rotherham United respectively.
Solihull Moors, welcoming Guiseley, and
Liverpool Marshalls Feds, visiting Wolves, will
hope to cause upsets against the newlypromoted
sides, both of whom are yet to get
points on the board in the third tier.
Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion have
also suffered two defeats from two so far.
They will hope to get their first wins in
favourable games – the Potters travelling to
Morecambe while the Baggies are hosted by
Long Eaton United.

Elsewhere, recently-rebranded Leeds United
visit a Nottingham Forest side who have
started well with a win and a draw.
Completing the line-up for first round fixtures
featuring Northern Division clubs,
Middlesbrough then play Burton Albion on
home soil, looking to follow up Sunday’s win
over Wolves with another.
