excels for Knights<br />
OLD QUEENIAN Rudi Second, elder son of Queen’s<br />
Junior headmaster Richard Second and his wife,<br />
Magriet, has the amazing average of 387 runs in<br />
three innings of cricket matches.<br />
This total was substantially boosted by an<br />
unbeaten double century last weekend.<br />
Playing for the Knights against the Cape Cobras<br />
at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn, Second<br />
hit <strong>20</strong>3 not out off 231 balls, including 30 fours to<br />
take the Knight’s total to 489 for five declared.<br />
Second was on 119 not out when the Knights<br />
resumed their innings at 376 for four and enjoyed<br />
a successful fifth wicket partnership with Werner<br />
Coetzee, who made 62.<br />
He now has a total of 387 from his three<br />
innings, in two of which he was not out, taking his<br />

THE Siseko Dalamba<br />
Cricket Club honoured the<br />
family of its namesake,<br />
handing over a jersey to<br />
the relatives of the former<br />
cricketing hero at the<br />
Dumpy Adams Stadium on<br />
S u n d ay.<br />
Club member Moss<br />
Mbanga said, “We started<br />
the team in February and<br />
named it Siseko Dalamba<br />
after getting permission<br />
from his sister.”<br />
He said the team<br />
comprised pupils and<br />
young adults. Anyone was<br />
welcome to join with the<br />
club training on Mondays to<br />
Fridays at the Dumpy<br />
Adams Stadium.<br />
<strong>The</strong> local cricket league<br />
started two weeks ago and<br />
will end in March next year.<br />
Dalamba’s sister, Faith,<br />
said the family had lived in<br />
Newtown, Mlungisi.<br />
She said her brother was<br />
active in politics. He died<br />
in exile after leaving the<br />
country in 1977.<br />
“We did not see his<br />
body which hurts. I often<br />
sit and think of my younger<br />
brother, I loved him a lot.”<br />
She said her father and<br />
his brothers all used to<br />
play cricket.<br />

S i s e ko ’s childhood<br />
friend Lwazi Shenxane said<br />
both their fathers used to<br />
play. Siseko, who was an<br />
excellent bowler, played for<br />
the junior SA side during<br />
1972-73 and joined in a<br />
local schools side.<br />

municipality to work with<br />
Border cricket in<br />
establishing a cricket pitch<br />
and stand at the Mlungisi<br />
st a d i u m .<br />
On Saturday, the<br />
Northern Region Warriors<br />
(NRW) faced off against<br />
WSU in the Komani<br />
Internal Cricket League.<br />
NRW made 334/10 in 38<br />
overs and WSU 152/10 in<br />
23. NRW won by 182 runs.<br />
On Sunday, Siseko<br />
Dalamba played against<br />
Masakhane. Masakhane<br />
scored 171/10 in 33.3 overs<br />
and Siseko Dalamga made<br />
172/5 in 28 overs, winning<br />
the match by five wickets.<br />
