In what is described<br />
as a world-first tie-up<br />
between a marina group<br />
and a sharing economy<br />
platform, the exclusive<br />
arrangement provides<br />
MDL’s members<br />
with a fully managed<br />
service to rent out<br />
accommodation on their<br />
yachts. The platform<br />
allows holidaymakers to<br />
access unique getaway<br />
experiences in unrivalled<br />
locations across Europe<br />
whilst offering boat<br />
owners a tried and<br />
tested model through<br />
which to securely rent<br />
out their vessel.<br />
Launched in 2015,<br />
Beds on Board<br />
is a peer-to-peer<br />
marketplace that allows<br />
owners to rent their boat<br />
to guests looking for an<br />
alternative to traditional<br />
accommodation, such<br />
as hotels and bed and<br />
breakfasts. Users of the<br />
site can search for boats<br />
in their desired location<br />
before chatting to the<br />
owner through a secure<br />
Message Centre. After a<br />
stay, both the user and<br />
owner are encouraged<br />
to write reviews in order<br />
to grow trust and the<br />

Chinese manufacturer Livart Marine has now delivered a total of<br />
18 long-span gangways for phases one and two of the Mina Rashid<br />
<strong>Marina</strong> project in Dubai, UAE. The gangways are engineered to<br />
6061 T6 aluminium alloy standard with anti-corrosion Fluoro-<br />
Carbon coating, and are decked with wood-plastic composite with<br />
Ultra Shield all-round protection. On-deck installations include<br />
Rolec Combi pedestals and LED lighting.<br />

Hoists for Italy and beyond<br />
Prestigious home-market projects boosted order books this summer for Italian manufacturer<br />
Boat Lift.<br />
San Lorenzo <strong>Marina</strong> in<br />
Liguria took delivery of a<br />
90T hoist to replace its<br />
60T unit. The machine<br />
is at work on a recently<br />
extended hardstand<br />
area.<br />
Within weeks of the<br />
San Lorenzo delivery,<br />
a 110T Boat Lift hoist<br />
was at work at newly<br />
inaugurated Capo<br />
d’Orlando <strong>Marina</strong> (see p.<br />
40). The hoist has a 90°<br />
steering system and a<br />
service jib crane.<br />
Export orders also<br />
made for a busy season,<br />
with a 40T hoist with<br />
width expansion system<br />
despatched to the British<br />
Virgin Islands; an 80T to<br />
the Maldives; a 220T to<br />
the UK; and a 450T to a<br />
Russian customer.<br />
