abating, his appetite was increasing,

slowly gaining his health.
It did the mother good to relate the story.
Henry therefore did her good in giving her the
opportunity. It did Henry himself good to hear
about it ; and Henry's report to his father and
mother, when supper came, did them good.
This
then, small as it was, was worth notice as a
birthday effort. If Harry Scovill, at so great a
distance, did not rest any better that night on
account of the interest taken by his friends in
his welfare his mother did.
