lost when another birthday arrives."
" I hope not," said Mrs. Williams ; "for I trust
other intervening days of doing good will con
tribute to swell the same little stream which
is already beginning to flow."
" Yes ; but, independent of other and subse
quent cooperating influences, I do not believe,
my dear," resumed Mr. Williams, "that the
whole will or can be lost. But then I hope that
