“Don’t move! Come out slowly, with your hands<br />
where I can see them.”<br />
He set the panel down and stepped back, blaster<br />
still trained on the interior. Slowly, shaking hands<br />
came out of the hole, followed by arms and a person<br />
that they were attached to. It was a woman, obviously<br />
small due to her ability to fit underneath the console.<br />
She had light green hair, a common enough occurrence<br />
on freighter ships. Her exposed skin was covered in<br />
tattoos, and her clothing matched that of a deckhand.<br />
Her face, however, drew all attention, as it was covered<br />
in fear. She looked like she had been crying quite a bit.<br />
I moved towards her, but was immediately stopped<br />
by Leif before I could reach her.<br />
“Who are you?” Leif asked, gun still pointed at her.<br />
He wouldn’t let up his guard, not until he was absolutely<br />
sure it was safe. “Answer me, now!”<br />
“My name-” She started speaking, but was interrupted<br />
by a coughing fit before she could continue.<br />
“My name is Devran.”<br />
“Devran, why were you hiding in under a console of<br />
the bridge? Where is the rest of the crew?” Leif asked,<br />
lowering his blaster slowly but not holstering it yet.<br />
“<strong>The</strong> crew?” She asked, almost blankly, looking<br />
around her without much recognition.<br />
“Yes, the crew,” Leif spoke slowly. He glanced back<br />
at me, and I mouthed the word “shock”. His eyebrows<br />
rose, and I stepped forward slightly.<br />
“Your name is Devran, right?” I asked quietly. She<br />
nodded without looking at me, still taking in her surroundings.<br />
