“I can lock it in there! Just one second!”<br />
“Now!”<br />
Leif had already gotten the airlock door open, and<br />
was shoving me and Devran inside while Tallis yelled<br />
at his brother. Khalis tapped one more button, and began<br />
running through the cargo bay.<br />
That was when the lights went out.<br />
“Khalis!” Tallis screamed. He reached inside the airlock<br />
and grabbed one of the X-14 heavy blasters mounted<br />
by the doorway before he went charging back, firing<br />
into the dark as he yelled for Khalis.<br />
“Tallis, no!” I screamed.<br />
“Stay here!” Leif said. He locked the airlock from<br />
the outside before running out of my sight. I banged<br />
against the door, and then opened my comm channel<br />
so I could hear what was happening. <strong>The</strong>re was nothing,<br />
just breathing and footsteps. <strong>The</strong>n the screaming<br />
started.<br />
“Khalis, no!” I whimpered, tears falling down my<br />
face. Yelling followed, Leif and Tallis trying to find the<br />
source of the noise. Energy blasts rang out in rapid succession,<br />
each briefly illuminating the cargo bay whenever<br />
they hit something. One of them dropped a lightbeam,<br />
and I could better see the chaos at hand. Lief was<br />
facing back towards the door we had come through,<br />
firing into the dark as he searched for whatever had<br />
gotten Khalis. Tallis was spraying energy bolts all over,<br />
screaming in rage at the unknown. It seemed like they<br />
weren’t hitting anything, simply blackening the walls<br />
of the room that was void of any other movement.<br />
