the Master’s Cheer Classic last<br />

month. The girls also took third place<br />

which opened this academic year,<br />

the squad is excited and proud of its<br />

Classic.<br />

Girls on the Run held its biannual<br />

5K last month at the University<br />

of Central Florida, celebrating the<br />

culmination of the fall 2017 season<br />

and the limitless potential of the<br />

girls in the program. It was the first<br />

time GOTR Orlando sponsored its<br />

own 5K fun run, which signifies the<br />

council’s growth and impact since its<br />

inception in 2008.<br />

The fall season included nearly<br />

1,000 girls in third through eighth<br />

grades and more than 200 volunteer<br />

coaches, many of whom teach at the<br />

schools that offer the program. More<br />

than 60 schools in Orange, Lake,<br />

Seminole and Osceola counties offer<br />

the 10-week character development<br />

program that brings girls from different<br />

walks of life together, empowering<br />

and encouraging them to respect<br />

each other and, most importantly,<br />
