CENTERVILLE SWIM & DIVE TEAM<br />

The <strong>Centerville</strong> Elk Swim and Dive Team officially began its 2017-<strong>2018</strong> season with a 5:15<br />

AM practice and pancake breakfast on Friday, November 3rd. Both Girls and Boys teams are<br />

working hard to defend their GWOC Championship and improve on last season’s District and<br />

State results. Head Coach Steve Hippenmeyer and assistant swim coaches Jonnie Shoemacher,<br />

Jenny Fiden, Allison Bendel, Molly Osterhage and Dive Coach Alice Licata are excited to get the<br />

season started with the Elks.<br />

The Elk Dive Team wrapped up a great season<br />

last year with an outstanding championship finish.<br />

Returning senior Captain and All-American Austin<br />

Flaute placed 1st at Districts and 4th in State. Jonah<br />

Klumb placed 5th in Sectionals and 9th in Districts,<br />

while Lucas Hargrove placed 9th at Sectionals and<br />

20th in Districts. For the girls, 4 top 10 finishes in<br />

Sectionals with Kaitlyn Stacy in 2nd, Noë Camp in<br />

4th, Breonna Gillespie in 5th and Brooke Greenlee<br />

in 6th. Kaitlyn Stacy followed up with a 13th place<br />

finish in Districts. Under the guidance of Coach Alice<br />

Licata, the <strong>Centerville</strong> Dive Team looks to continue<br />

to be a strong presence in the GWOC and beyond.<br />

The Lady Elks Swim Team won their 22nd<br />

consecutive GWOC Championship last season<br />

and won the Sectional meet, placed 5th at Districts<br />

and 10th in State. Captains Camille Butkus, Ana<br />

Girz, Sarah Hippenmeyer, Megan Kafka, Jessica<br />

Pulaski, Megan Wooton and Aliya Zimmerman<br />

will lead the Lady Elks swim team this season.<br />

Returning Varsity State Qualifiers for the Lady Elks<br />

are Juniors Lauren Lampe, Liz Quarin and Pruitt<br />

Walther and Sophomore Nicola Lane. Lane finished<br />

5th at State in the 500 Free, Quarin finished 14th in<br />

the 500 Free and 16th in the 200 Free, and Walther<br />

finished 23rd in the 200IM and 100 Back. Returning<br />

varsity swimmers, seniors Allison Hart and Emma<br />

Lane, juniors Lauren Crowe and Anna Madding and<br />

sophomores Maya Granderson, Ashley Greer and<br />

Sarah Zipes, along with a strong freshman class will<br />

position the Lady Elks for another great season.<br />

The Boys Swim Team won an unprecedented 23rd<br />

consecutive GWOC Championship last season, they<br />

won the Sectional Meet, placed 6th at the Southwest<br />

Ohio District Meet and 26th at the State Meet.<br />

Captains Colin Beach, Garrett Fox, Sam McCarthy,<br />

John Merkle, Jacob Sargent and Edward Zhang will<br />

lead the boys’ team this season. Returning State<br />

Qualifier Sam McCarthy finished in 15th in the 200<br />

IM and 23rd in the 100 Breast at State. Returning<br />

varsity swimmers seniors Alex Pickrel, Jacob<br />

Valentini, juniors Joe Cummings, Zach Feldmeyer,<br />

Tyler King, Josh Wiedemann, sophomores Wesley<br />

Feldmeyer, Ethan Galbraith, Braydon Kime, Matthew<br />

Stuber, Sebastian Villa and Mason Wilkinson, plus a<br />

new group of freshman boys will help continue to<br />

strengthen the team for another GWOC title run and<br />

more.<br />

The Elks Swim and Dive Team of over 120 athletes<br />

will begin their 2017-<strong>2018</strong> season on December<br />

1st at the Fairmont Quad Meet. Competitions will<br />

continue throughout the winter culminating in<br />

the State Championship at the end of February<br />
