Nude photos of man put in letter boxes
• By Andrew King
DON’T LET anyone take
nude photos of you.
That’s the advice of truck
driver Peter Black who is now
the embarrassment of his
neighbourhood.
The 51-year-old had personal
photos of himself, with his
name, phone number, address
and a list of sexual services with
prices distributed around the
Islington area where he lives.
Famous English outlaw
becomes Robyn Hood
• By Georgia O’Connor-Harding
MEET THE new face of one
of medieval’s most timeless
English tales.
Sophia Benter-Lynch will put
a feminine twist on the legend
of Robin Hood, playing the
heroic outlaw herself.
Having just left Cashmere
High School, it will be the
first major role of the aspiring
performer’s career.
The Riccarton House
grounds will transform
into Sherwood Forest as the
tale of Robin Hood and her
adventures is brought to the
city.
The new adaption was created
by director Daniel Pengelly
for the city council’s Anthony
Harper Summer Theatre production.
While the classic characters
such as the infamous Sheriff of
Nottingham and Robin Hood’s
love interest Lady Marian will
still appear in the show, audiences
can expect to see several
makeovers.
Benter-Lynch, 18, said most
of the story remains the same
but all characters’ genders have
been switched so roles such as
Marian is played by a man.
“I’m pretty sure I know who
has done it and I have passed
that information onto police,”
he said yesterday.
Mr Black ended a relationship
recently.
On Friday he received a call
from a neighbour, extremely
upset she had received a flyer
offering sexual services from
Mr Black.
She thought he had put the
flyer in her letter box.
“I was p****d off, angry and
Nick
Cheesebrough
(left), 19, who
will play Marian
describes
his reinvented
character as a
buff jockey sort
of guy with a few insecurities.
He said the show was inspired
by 1991 film Robin Hood:
Prince of Thieves starring Alan
Rickman and Kevin Costner.
Other significant characters
are Carrie Green as the Sheriff
of Nottingham and Millie
embarrassed at the situation,”
he said.
He spoke with police on
Monday, who are now making
inquiries into who has made
and distributed them.
Senior Sergeant Pete Stills
said police are still trying to
determine how far the flyers
have been delivered.
“The simple message here is
don’t send nude pictures or allow
others to take them of you,”
Senior Sergeant Stills said.
Hanford as Friar Tuck.
Benter-Lynch said it is an
empowering play for familiesespecially
those who take their
daughters to the show.
“Even though Robin Hood
is a young woman she is still
great at leading this army. People
actually follow her and it is
a great message to the youth of
today,” she said.
Benter-Lynch’s interest in
acting was first ignited when
she became obsessed with the
film The Sound of Music at
eight-years-old.
Mr Black agreed. “I won’t
let anyone take nudes of me
again,” he said.
In another recent case,
photos of a woman were distributed
in Taranaki. Gaylyne
Joy Fowler, 49, pleaded guilty
to a charge of objectionable
behaviour in January.
She printed nude photos of
a woman who was having an
affair with her husband and
distributed them around Hawera
Fire Station car park.
PLAYING
THE
OUTLAW:
Sophia
Benter-Lynch
is playing
the new face
of English
legend Robin
Hood.
“I was like they are on stage
they having so much fun singing
and dancing and it is just
like isn’t this just a dream job
to be able to have fun for the
rest of your life,” she said.
Since then she has worked
with The Court Youth Company,
performed in high school
productions and competed in
the Stage Challenge.
Robin Hood will run from
February 1 to 19.
In Brief
SCHOOL SITE TESTING
Redcliffs School could know where
its new buildings will be placed
within months. Tonkin & Taylor
has been analysing the land in
Redcliffs Park to find out the best
place to rebuild the school. Ministry
of Education head of education
infrastructure service Kim Shannon
said staff dug eight test pits last
week to enable detailed geotechnical
and soil testing. She said the work
was supervised by representatives
from Underground Overground,
Ngati Wheke and Ngai Tuahuriri.
Tonkin & Taylor would prepare
a report as to where the best site
would be, she said. “We expect to
receive this in the next couple of
months.”
CAMERAS INSTALLED
Summit Road Society has installed
two webcams on the roof of the
Christchurch Gondola building in
the Port Hills. One camera faces
east along the Port Hills towards
Godley Head, while the other faces
west towards the Sign of the Kiwi
and Gebbies Pass. Photos would be
taken every 10min so people can
see the changing weather so they
could plan their visit. To have a
look, visit www.summitroadsociety.
org.nz and click on the blue Port
Hills webcam button. The webcams
were supported by the city council,
Christchurch Gondola and Prime
Security.
INTERSECTION OPTIONS
Three options are being looked
at for changes to the St Andrews
Hill, Bridle Path and Main Rds
intersection. It comes after
residents reported difficulties
turning right onto Bridle Path Rd
from St Andrews Hill Rd, the
speed of vehicles approaching,
queuing and lack of visibility.
They predicted those issues
before the intersection was built.
The first option would see traffic
signals installed at the bottom of
St Andrews Hill Rd, and pre-signals
on Bridle Path Rd, while the
second would be to prevent all right
turns out of Bridle Path Rd onto
Main Rd. The third option was to
do nothing. Public consultation on
the options is on the city council’s
website.
