WHY CHARITY PARTNERSHIPS ARE SO IMPORTANT<br />
LAURA MANTON, SOLICITOR AND DIRECTOR<br />
Four years ago we decided to formalise our partnership with charities by naming one charity<br />
each year that we would fundraise for. In 2017 we raised money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in<br />
Eastbourne. With great support from the all the staff at Dawson Hart and the local community<br />
we raised over £6,000 and had a fantastic time in doing so!<br />
We have seen so many benefits<br />
of charity partnerships here at<br />
Dawson Hart. The opportunities<br />
for team building have been<br />
fantastic – with people pulling<br />
together to put on an event,<br />
teams having the opportunity to<br />
get together outside of the work<br />
environment, and a real sense of<br />
achievement and pride across the<br />
firm at what we have achieved.<br />
Everyone has wanted to be<br />
involved and everyone has done<br />
their bit. Every year our staff go<br />
the extra mile to help these local<br />
charities.<br />
We ask our staff to get involved in<br />
choosing our charity means that<br />
everyone feels connected to the<br />
cause and is keen to support our<br />
fundraising events throughout<br />
the year.<br />
Events varied throughout the<br />
year from hunting Easter Eggs<br />
with the Easter Bunny, enjoying<br />
a night of comedy hosted by<br />
Oi Oi Comedy to dancing the<br />
night away at the Barn Dance!<br />
Colleagues took part in the St<br />
Wilfrid’s Starlight Stroll and we<br />
also held Dress Down Days in the<br />
office to raise extra money for the<br />
charity pot!<br />
We were also thrilled to be<br />
nominated for the <strong>Uckfield</strong> FM<br />
Give Back to the Community<br />
Award in November. It was<br />
fantastic to be recognised for<br />
charity fundraising work and<br />
we had a wonderful time at<br />
the Awards Evening hosted by<br />
<strong>Uckfield</strong> FM.<br />
Our Christmas Drinks Event in<br />
December ended a successful<br />
year of fundraising and guests<br />
joined us to enjoy wine tasting,<br />
nibbles and an impressive<br />
Christmas cake!<br />
We also announced that our<br />
Charity of the Year for <strong>2018</strong> is The<br />
Children’s Respite Trust. Please<br />
