RIBBONS RAISE £4,000
Rotary Club’s Christmas collection provides
welcome boost to charity fund

Since 1951, Uckfield’s Rotary Club has had a Christmas tree at the centre
of Uckfield. This year the collection boxes at the tree and the purchase of
commemorative ribbons raised over £4,000 – huge thanks goes to the people of
Uckfield for their generosity.
Our Charity Fund was boosted by £582.80
from the sale of the ribbons and £3,468.46
from our collecting boxes. We thank all
who donated, as well as Fuller and Scott
and Allsorts, who sold ribbons for us,
and CJ Thorne, who have donated the
tree every year since 1951, and were very
helpful this year erecting and taking
down the tree. We can’t do what we do
without this community support, and we
appreciate it.
We have already started spending the
Charity Fund: we held our annual
Seniors’ Party at Uckfield College last
month when some 100 ladies and
gentlemen enjoyed an afternoon of tea,
cakes and entertainment.
Once again we are offering £1,000 to a
local person aged between 16 and 25, in
our Making Dreams Come True award.
The aim is to help a local young adult
realise an ambition. What the money can
be used for is not defined, but we invite
young people to make a bid and convince
us that their dream is the one worth
supporting. More details can be found on

form and information sheet – read the
latter, fill in the former, and who knows
where it might end.
The next social event we have planned is
a Race Night on 24 March. Details will
shortly be available, and we look forward
to seeing you there.
