BAD WEATHER
DOESN’T STOP US

The words of Alfred Wainwright ‘There’s
no such thing as bad weather, only
unsuitable clothing,’ have run through my
thoughts many times over recent weeks.
As I’ve fought to get toddlers dressed
in multiple layers and tried to reason
with teenagers (for the third time that
week) as to why
they need to wear
more than just a
T-Shirt when it’s
sub-zero outside
these words have
reassured me
that the twenty minute performance it
takes our family to leave the house is all
worthwhile. It is. We live in a beautiful
part of the country, and even when it’s
cold, wet and grey, I find getting outside
as a family the perfect remedy for cabin
fever.
We loved exploring the new Highway Rat
trail at Bedgebury Pinetum. The new trail
has been opened in perfect timing to tie in
with the BBC Christmas adaptation of the
Julia Donaldson tale. The children loved
racing around the woodland following the
Highway Rat clues, discovering a number
of exciting new play areas in the process!
year. Best of all the cafe sells a good hot
chocolate to warm up with afterwards.
We did enjoy a bit of indoor fun last
month too! The kids thoroughly enjoyed

We started the year with good intentions
to do our bit to look after the environment
and help the planet. With this in mind,
we joined Zero Waste Maman, at her
beach clean in Seaford. The children
were hugely motivated to collect as much
