Tylers Green First School
All of us at Tylers Green First School would
like to wish you a very Happy & Healthy New
Year for 2018, and hope that you have had a
relaxing and enjoyable break over Christmas
and New Year. Staff and pupils have started the
year with enthusiasm and are looking forward
to the activities ahead.
I hope that if you joined us on for our
Christmas Fair last term you enjoyed meeting
our parents and staff and had a good time. We
welcome members of the community to our
school fairs and appreciate you taking the time
to come along and support us.
Our Christmas Nativity plays were very
successful this year, and enjoyed by all. We
were lucky enough to have a visit from Santa on
party day when he spent the afternoon with each
class in turn. Everyone really enjoyed the
opportunity to talk to Santa, and to play party
games together after the hard work of the term.
This term, we had a Pantomime, Aladdin,
performed by a travelling theatre company in
school. Those of you near the school may well
have heard us joining in the fun of the
Pantomime. Having the visiting theatre
company provides us with an opportunity to
introduce the children to live theatre. The
characters visit the youngest children prior to
the performance as this helps to allay their
worries about what can seem to be quite scary
characters when they are so close to you.
Village Voice February/March 2018
Teachers too have worries that they will be the
chosen member of staff to have a small role in
this production!
We have our usual visit from the Toy
Workshop for Year 1 at the start of term. The
children have the opportunity to study and
handle toys from other times which they
thoroughly enjoy. This always causes some
nostalgia amongst some of us on the staff team
as well as the parent helpers who assist in
making the day run as smoothly as possible.
In the lead up to half term, we will have are a
One World Week and we will be learning about
lots of new and exciting places. The children
enjoy our themed weeks and we find time to
share what we have done with each other either
in an assembly or by walking around the school
and visiting each other’s classrooms.
We are always looking for people amongst
the community who have a skill to offer or to
share with us and this can be as much or as little
as you feel able to offer. We also seek
Governors to join our skilled Governing Body.
If you are interested in any of the above roles
please make contact with me on the school
number 01494 813201. Mrs J Dieppe, Headteacher,
Little Oaks Nurseries & Creche
We enjoyed rousing end-of-term Nativities from
all nursery children, who dressed up as all the
well-known characters from the story. And –
then there were the cowboys (see photo). We’re
not sure what happened to the shepherds this
