year but we’ll be investigating before next year’s performance! An exciting term lies ahead which will include World Book Day, Mother’s Day and Sports Relief events for the children. We’ll be outdoors as much as possible, as it’s particularly important for children’s physical and emotional wellbeing to play outside in the winter months. As someone once said, ‘There’s no such thing as the wrong weather, jut the wrong clothing’. As for the grown-ups, please mark your calendars for the annual Little Oaks Quiz Night on SATURDAY MARCH 17th at the Village Hall. We are particularly hoping that previous years’ enthusiastic quizzers will return to join in with current parents and supporters. Better start revising soon! Ruthie Pocock www.pennandtylersgreen.org.uk Village Voice February/March 2018 TGMS 50th Anniversary Celebrations This summer, TGMS looks forward to celebrating 50 years of educating children from our village and surrounding areas. In order to celebrate this auspicious occasion, the school will be looking to engage pupils, staff, parents and the local community in a series of special events during the summer. We hope to reach out to as many of you as possible - whether you are current or past pupils and parents, ex-members of staff or Governing body, or members of our extended local community who would like to come along and celebrate with us! Plans held at the school involving the local community will include: a 50th Tea Party with celebration cakes and entertainment provided by the pupils on the afternoon of Wednesday 4th July; a Musical Concert on the evening of Wednesday 4th July including performances from our pupils, the Village Choir and others and a 50th Anniversary Golden Ball on Saturday 7th July. It is hoped that as many of you as possible from the local community will join in these celebrations and further details will be made available in the next edition of the Village Voice and via other channels - watch this space! In addition, pupils will enjoy a number of events designed to celebrate 50 years of our lovely school and will be creating some specific legacies, such as a whole school art project. Celebrations will also include an Open Afternoon and 50th Anniversary Ceremony, to be held at the school on Friday 21st Sep 2018. Monies raised via a number of fund-raising events will be spent on creating a special shaded outdoor learning space and sensory garden in which pupils will be able to enjoy learning, relaxation, reading and many other activities over the years to come. We’d love to hear from any past pupils, members of staff or anyone who has been affiliated with the school over the years and who has any special memories that you’d like to share with us as we will be creating a number of resources to commemorate our 50th Anniversary.
