COLLECTOR'S ITEM TIMEPIECE IWC Portugieser Constant-Force Tourbillon Edition “150 Years” FOR HIM This year’s a big one for the Schaffhausen watchmaker – it’s celebrating its 150th anniversary. On cue, IWC showed up at the SIHH earlier this year with a special-edition “150 Years” collection which paid tribute to its pedigree. The halo piece was this Portugieser Constant-Force Tourbillon Edition “150 Years”. IWC isn’t one to make diminutive watches. It’s little surprise then that this is a 46mm watch, whose platinum case is 13.5mm thick, occupies a large piece of real estate on your wrist. All of that allows for a rather big dial which displays an oversized tourbillon supported by vertical bridges at nine o’clock and a moonphase at one o’clock which is accurate for the next 577.5 years. It is the first time that the new Calibre 94805 combines a constant-force tourbillion and a moon phase. The manual-winding timepiece has a power reserve of 96 hours (the dial displays has a power reserve indicator at four o’clock). Flip it over and you’ll see the Jubilee medallion in 18-carat gold on the back of the movement. The blue lacquered dial, rhodium plated hands and Santoni alligator leather straps make for a ruggedly handsome dress watch. This timepiece is limited to just 15 units, while a similar one with a white lacquered dial is limited to another 15 pieces as well. $249,000 (DHS914,500) AT IWC.COM 44 EQUITY

COLLECTOR'S ITEM TIMEPIECE Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Tourbillon FOR HER Jaeger-LeCoultre is synonymous with the Reverso – the rectangular, reversible timepiece that has become as recognisable an icon for JLC as the octagonal bezel of the Royal Oak has become for Audemars Piguet. But Jaeger- LeCoultre has a rich collection of watches beyond the Reverso as well. The Rendez-Vous collection which was first launched in 2012 is the brand’s main collection for women and features circular cases. While the Rendez-Vous has been going through several stages of evolution in the last six years, JLC has hit a high note this year with the Rendez-Vous Tourbillon which features a midnight blue dial. That tourbillon is operated by way of a self-winding Calibre 978 movement which contains 302 parts and has a power reserve of 45 hours. There’s plenty of diamonds tastefully arranged on this timepiece. A larger row of brilliant cut diamonds on the dial intersects a smaller circle which in turn frames the tourbillion at six o’clock. The white gold bezel is also set with diamonds, as are the sides of the case, lugs and crown which has an inverted diamond. PRICE ON REQUEST AT JAEGER-LECOULTRE.COM 45 EQUITY
