West Melton Scholarship awarded<br />
Eco-warriors check planting<br />
progress at Kowhai Sanctuary<br />
West Melton School’s eco-warriors, along with<br />
parent helpers, travelled to the Kowhai Sanctuary<br />
last week to monitor their previous plantings from<br />
2013-2017. While at the sanctuary, the pupils also<br />
tracked insect and bird life with Matt Standford from<br />
Enviroschools.<br />

scholarship on Friday. <strong>May</strong>or<br />
Sam Broughton was on hand<br />
to award her the West Melton<br />
Scholarship. Mel Haskell (left),<br />

Bruce Russell also attended<br />
the presentation. The annual<br />
scholarship is given to former<br />
pupils who are entering their<br />
final year of study towards<br />
a tertiary degree. Henrietta<br />
talked about her time at the<br />
school and her favourite<br />
memories as a pupil.<br />
Anti-bullying message<br />
West Melton School celebrated Pink Shirt Day on<br />
Friday. Pupils wore pink to spread the message<br />
about anti-bullying and accepting everyone for who<br />
they are.
