The company 

BiERBACH ® was founded in 1855 in Altena, a village 

situated in the Sauerland region. Today the headquarters 

are in Unna. With a qualified staff of 200 employees 

and an annual production of almost 10.000 tons of 

fixing products BiERBACH ® has become one of the 

leading manufacturers in its branch. 

With over 150 years in the market place and the 

consequently gained experience, combined with a 

user orientated company philosophy, BiERBACH ® 

clientele are ensured a reliable and efficient partner. 

BiERBACH ® has proved this yet again by being one 

of the first companies of its type to have its quality 

management system certified to 

DIN EN ISO 9001:2004. 

Research and Production 

BiERBACH ® products are developed in close 

connection with users, architects and design engineers. 

Customer requirements and requests are given top 

priority at BiERBACH ® , right from the first contact with 

the BiERBACH ® research team via the subsequent 

stages of construction on CAD through to the first 

sample presentation. 

The subsequent series production processing, in 

each of the three different manufacturing divisions for 

wire, sheet metal and plastic, is accomplished on timeand 

power saving computer controlled production 

units ensuring a constant high level of quality. 

For all of the BiERBACH ® products the highest level 

of raw material quality and production precision is 

demanded: Our in-house materials laboratory 

controls for example, the structural texture and the 

strengths of the used semi-finished goods, and 

optical devices ensure the accuracy of size allowing 

for a 100% fault separation.

The Range 

More than 5000 different products, made of metal 

and plastic materials, encompass the BiERBACH ® 

range, developed for various fields of applications. 

It offers the simplest skirting pin through to complex 

timber connectors with calculated design values that 

are officially approved by Building Control Authorities 

and european technical approvals (ETA + CE-sign) as 

well as classified to DIN 1052:2008-12 

It satisfies the requirements of the professional as 

well as the private DIY end user. 

The continuous research to adapt the products to 

the changing market requirements is not an annoying 

obligation but in fact a natural part of the BiERBACH ® 

philosophy. 

The experience of many years, the profound knowhow 

and the most modern and extensive technical 

equipment, help to put all of this into practice, 

allowing the company to be flexible to demands and 

to respond quickly to necessities imposed by new 

targets. 

Distribution and Service 

A nation-wide distribution system and a well-organised 

net of sales representatives attend to the qualified 

dealers, to industry and a lot of export customers. 

Besides the professional advice for the 

customer great emphasis is put on an attractive and 

clear presentation of products through standardised

Steel, tough hardened, silver coloured, zinc-nickel coated, chrome VI-free, 

glide coating, BiROX ® drive, slim notched point 

Screw intended für universal wood joints with predominantly non moving 

loads. 

The special chrome VI - free corrosion protection is ideally suited for constructions 

exposed to weather conditions. 

The large diskhead offers increased pull-through resistance of head requiring 

less joint fixings compared to countersunk screws. Fast and steady screwing. 

Together with the practical length steps the HoBAU-diskhead screws enable 

you to construct low cost and permanent quality joints.

Calculation of assessment values 

according to Z-9.1 as per DIN 

1052:2008 and EC5 

BiRA ® -IngBau-Screws are used for connecting timber 

construction parts to other timber elements or steel 

components to timber elements. 

These can be screwed in without predrilling. 

For connecting timber construction parts with thicknesses 

between 12 mm and 20 mm, the values 

contained in the charts have to be lowered by the 

factor of 0,6. At the same time pk has to be taken 

into account with 380Kg/m 3 . 

For connecting sheets of timber material under 

12 mm, the allowed maximum to be taken into 

account is 400N. It has to be observed that the minimum 

thicknesses of the sheets are met according to 

Z-9.1-427.

The exemplary charts refer to screws set at 90° 

against the grain for the connection of timber construction 

elements with other timber components.

BiERBACH ® fixing aid template for 

DaBAU ® screws 

BiERBACH ® DaBAU ® screws are set into rafters at an angle of 67° through the 

counter lath and the insulation material. The BiERBACH ® fixing aid template 

guarantees to maintain this angle. It is suited for 60 mm and 80 mm resp. 60 

mm, 80 mm and 100 mm wide counter laths. Due to the particular 

construction characteristic the offset guide of the screw is ensured, i.e. 

the screws are always centred into the rafter, thus preventing the screw 

from emerging sideways. 

Application: 

The necessary screw distances are marked in accordance with the static 

calculations. The triangular shaped notch is positioned on the marking. 

The BiERBACH ® DaBAU ® screw is inserted into the respective screw slot and 

screwed in with the threading fully entered into the counter lath. Now the 

template can be withdrawn over the screw shank. The DaBAU ® screw can 

now be screwed in to its full length without interruption.

threaded pitch similar to DIN 7998, flat countersunk head with large 

contact surface 

The perfect program addition for fastening of all types of insulation materials 

on rafters. 

Low rigid insulation materials are unsuitable for taking up pressure loads. 

The newly developped DaBAU ® -WD-Screw by BiERBACH ® offers the solution 

also for soft insulation materials. 

The pressure loads initiated by th counter battens are securely diverted into 

the rafters on account of the threading under the head. The roof is "hoovering" 

over the insulation. 

The additional diversion of the pushing forces through special stop battens in 

the eaves' area can be omitted. 

The mounting of the insulation system is identical to the reknown and since 

many years approved system with BiERBACH ® -DaBAU ® -Screws.

Stainless steel rustproof, rust resistant, stove enamelled, BiROX ® -drive 

no. 20, heads in 115 different colours available for economical order 

quantities. 

BiROX ® façade screws are perfectly suited for fastening of large area façade 

boards as well as small facing shingles. Due to an almost 50% larger surface 

head contact area than with previous façade screws a high fastening strength 

with less surface pressure to the façade panel is achieved. This combined with 

the specially flat screw head allows for façade designing of high technical and 

esthetical quality. 

The time consuming setting of plastic cover caps is no longer necessary, 

thus saving labour costs and is pro-environment.

forestry needs. The GaLa screw combines the advantage of a countersunk

Product advantages: 

• Construction of durable quality joints without rust stains or dark 

discolouring by attacks of tannic acid. 

• The special combination of BiROX ® -drive, thread form, slotted notch, 

friction part and small milling head will make pre-drilling and pre-countersinking 

of the terrace board unnecessary. 

• The practice proven BiROX ® -drive secures the best torque transfer 

without damaging of the head or the floor board by bit slipping. 

• The attacking milling ribs under the head support the exact and complete 

countersinking providing a neat setting. Screwing and countersinking in 

one operation. 

• The partial thread section under the head generates a vise effect, thus 

keeping the floor board tight to the subconstruction.

General information for concrete screws 

This self tapping concrete screw has been specially developed for 

plug-free fastenings in concrete, sand lime brick, solid brick, 

natural stone, cavity concrete blocks and clinker. 

Screwing-in depth in concrete is usually between 30 mm and 35 mm. 

Pre-drill hole appr. 5 mm deeper as screw-in depth.

This modern fixing element is a self-tapping screw for virtually all known 

construction materials and serves for fast plug-free direct fastening. 

BiERBACH ® concrete Euro screws* are usable not only in efficient 

batch applications but also for many fixing solutions in handicraft and 

industry. 

This extensive, virtually almost universal application spectrum 

meets the requirements of the craftsmen for a fastener that is exceptionally 

low-cost and profit making. 

The plug-free installation combined with an extensive application range 

means an enormous time and therefore cost saving for the user and has

• Drill hole with trade available hammer drill. 

In lightweight materials and hollow block brickwork use only drill 

mode. 

In aerated concrete upto grade G4, no pre-drilling required. 

• The minimum drilled hole depth should be screw embedded 

depth + 2 x screw Ø. 

• BiERBACH ® concrete Euro screws* can be driven in with an electric 

screwdriver or with a hammer screwdriver.

This screw rationalizes and simplifies the mounting of frames. Window and 

door frames of wood, PVC and other materials can be tension free fastened 

without nylon anchors. 

The thread cuts an interlocking forming thread into the anchoring base. These 

expansion-free anchors allow short rim and axial distances. The frames should 

be provided with pre-drilled holes of 6,2 mm Ø by the manufacturer. After 

installing and adjusting the frames, core holes Ø 6 mm are hammer drilled into 

the anchoring base. Drive in the concrete screw and finished. Remove wedges 

and aiding devices. (Low density materials, cavity blocks and honeycomb 

bricks to be drilled only in drilling mode). The screw head can be countersunk if 

needed.

Euro concrete anchor* type »A« 

Nylon anchor-free direct fastening in concrete or brickwork. 

Steel, galvanized and yellow chromatized, flat countersunk head. 

These sturdy BiERBACH ® anchors allow multi-purpose direct fastenings in 

brickwork, concrete as well as solid and natural stone. Standard, time 

intensive plug fastenings are now almost unnecessary. Reduced installation 

times mean cost savings and therefore competitive advantages for tradecraft 

and industry. 

The range of utilization is very variable and anchors with different head forms 

have been developed so that for all installation cases an optimum fastener 

can be chosen. 

The specially developed profile of the shaft guarantees a high pullout value 

in the above mentioned construction materials. 

After pre-drilling with drill Ø 6 mm or 8 mm, the precisely engineered point 

allows easy driving-in of the fastener without damaging the drill hole rim. The 

pre-drilled hole has to be approx. 15 mm deeper than the drive-in depth 

which should be about 40 mm in solid material. 


This solid anchor type is specially suited for fastenings of batten frames on 

concrete, solid and natural stone. Combined with clamp plates, wire mesh 

coverings on eroded rock formations to be redeveloped can be perfectly 

fastened.

The twin-thread principle: 

It is acknowledged that screws in wood under strain can transmit high loads. 

Setting screws thoroughly in wood without predrilling (large anchoring length) 

has been solved on account of intelligent shapes of threading, head and 

tooling. 

Economics: 

BiRA ® -HK-screw-connectors allow production of wood-wood-joints comparable 

to long full-threaded screws. BiRA ® -HK-screw-connectors are seated with 

corresponding bits at points where these are needed, resulting in a budget 

saving calculation for the craftsman. 

Esthetics: 

The fastening system BiRA ® -HK-screw-connector is benchmark for permanent 

and esthetic wood-wood-joints. 

BiRA ® -HK-screw-connectors can be used for all complex timber engineering 

as well as for wood frame and element constructions for almost all load 

carrying wood-wood joints, guaranteeing an efficient and optimum static 

possibility for fast and secure production of different wood joints. 

Performance: 

BiRA ® -HK-screw-connectors are screwed into the construction parts to be 

joined without predrilling, thus saving time and labor cost for the craftsman. 

BiRA ® -HK-screw-connectors are easy to use. The joint is hidden, meaning 

improved fire protection. 

BiRA ® -HK-screw-connectors can be set at an angle of 45° to 90° in 

relation to the surface, whether on lateral wood or on cross-grained wood. 

With BiRA ® -HK-screw-connectors transverse pull and push reinforcements 

on joist cut-outs, notched joists, reinforced supports and reinforcement of 

timber cross sections are possible. On all theses joints BiRA ® -HK-screwconnectors 

replace glued-in threaded rods. 

Advantages: 

No glue certificates needed. It is not necessary to realize the joints in the 

work-shop but these can be made on the building site. Also jack rafter joints 

i.e. can be made at almost any desired angle and statically be proved. 

Multiple application possibilities can be found on restauration works, i.e. for 

reinforcements of existing cross sections. 

Safety: 

High load capacity and durable wood-wood joints are testified by the 

homologation certificate no. Z-9.1-667.

Sales and delivery terms and conditions 

§ 1 Validity of the conditions, contract agreements 

1. These sales and delivery terms and conditions are valid for all deliveries, 

performances, and offers of the vendor. Business or delivery terms and 

conditions of the purchaser which conflict with these business terms or 

complement these terms will not be recognised. Their inclusions are 

hereby excluded. 

2. All quotations given are not offers capable of acceptance so as to make 

a binding contract. 

3. Clarifications of orders and all orders placed require written contract 

acceptance from the vendor before any contract arises. 

4. Variations from these business terms and conditions and any other 

modifications or oral variations will first become effective when 

authorised in writing by the vendor. 

§ 2 Date of delivery, act of god 

1. Deliveries will be effected subject to the proviso of delivery possibility. 

2. If the delivery is delayed, hindered or prevented due to an act of god, 

unforeseen breakdown, shortage of raw materials or other cause 

whatsoever, for which the company is not responsible, the time of 

delivery shall at the vendoris option be extended accordingly even if 

contractually agreed. If the delivery from the vendor under such 

circumstances is no longer possible or no longer reasonable the vendor 

shall be entitle to cancel part or in whole the agreement. 

3. If the delay exceeds two-month the purchaser is entitled after 

reasonable rescheduling with respect to the still unfulfilled part to cancel 

the agreement. 

4. If the vendor is responsible for the delay the amount of damages 

claimed from the purchaser due to the delay for one agreement are 

restricted to a value of 5 % of the invoicing value of the effected 

agreement. Claims in excess of this are hereby excluded, except 

when the delay can be attributed to negligence or intent of the vendor. 

§ 3 Prices 

All prices are net and do not include the lawful required VAT. All prices quoted 

are ex works and are valid for up to 60 days after receipt of contract 

agreement. On expiry of this period the vendor is entitled to alter the prices 

after receipt of contract agreement if the costs to the vendor, have changed 

beyond vendor’s fault. 

The carriage costs and the costs of the packaging are separately shown on 

the invoice and for the purchaser’s account. Packaging material can not be 

returned. 

§ 4 Delivery quantities, special productions 

1. The vendor is entitled to part deliveries in reasonable amounts. 

2. On agreements with successive deliveries the goods are to be accepted 

if possible in equal monthly amounts during the contract. The vendor is 

entitled for delayed call-off after fruitless rescheduling to arrange the 

division of the delivery at his own discretion. The vendor reserves the 

option that under these circumstances to be able cancel part of the 

agreement or be entitled to damages due to the purchasers failure of 

performance. 

For special productions as well as for large order quantities delivery 

tolerances of plus/minus up to 10% of the order are permitted. 

§ 5 Transfer risk 

The risk of accidental loss will be borne by the purchaser as soon as the 

transfer to the responsible transporter is effective or by dispatch on leaving 

the vendors storage. This is equally valid for shipments performed by the 

vendoris personnel either in whole or in part. 

§ 6 Terms of payment 

1. The vendors invoices are payable within 10 days after invoice date 

minus 2% trade discount or within 30 days without trade discount. 

2. The payment is considered valid only once the vendor has the amount 

at his disposal. Authoritative for the payment per exchange transfer or 

cheque is the definitive redeemability. The vendor is only obliged to 

accept exchange transfer on the basis of special agreement. The bank 

charges are for the purchaser’s account. 

3. Should the purchaser be in arrears with payments, the vendor can 

demand interest of 1% per month over the current bank discount rate of 

the German Bundesbank. 

4. With established reasons of a substantial worsening of the purchasers 

financial position, in particular due to cessation of payment, cheque or 

exchange transfer protests or payment delays, the vendor is entitled to 

fulfilment ,step by step, or to demand additional securities. After 

frustrated demands the vendor is entitled to cancel the agreement and 

under retention of title of ownership, to repossess delivered goods at the 

expense of the purchaser. 

All rights, in particular the rights to reproduce and circulate, are reserved by the 

producer. No part of this catalogue may be reproduced in any other form – 

through photocopying, microfilming, or any other format – or transmitted or 

translated into a language used by machine, specially that of data processing 

equipment. 

No liability is accepted for content completeness, errors including technical 

alterations and additions. 


5. The purchaser is only entitled to the counterbalance if his counterclaim 

is undisputed or legally established. 

§ 7 Extended and prolonged retention of title of ownership 

1. Delivered goods remain the property of the vendor until full payment of 

the purchase price has been fully received (all right reserved 

merchandise). The delivered goods remain also the property of the 

vendor until the purchaser has met all agreements of the contract. 

2. The purchaser in entitled to dispose of the proviso goods in a correct 

business routine. As disposal is also included the application of the 

proviso goods to fulfil delivery and works contracts. Prerequisite for 

these rights is however that the purchaser reserves the rights of 

ownership on resale and that the obligations of the resale according to 

item 3 are passed back to the vendor. 

3. The purchaser assigns the existing resale obligations to the vendor. With 

disposal together with other goods the obligations in part are assigned, 

for the proviso goods value in relationship corresponding to the other 

goods. The assigned obligations serve in the same way as security as 

for the proviso goods. 

4. The vendor authorises the purchaser that the assigned obligations 

to the vendor for his invoices can be collected in the purchaser name. 

The authority to collect a direct debit can only be revoked when the 

purchaser does not fulfil his payment obligations in a regular manner. 

5. In the event of any breach or non-performance by the purchaser, in 

particular for non-payment in respect to the previously agreed 

obligations or cessation of payments, the vendor is entitled that the 

assigned above obligations are given in warning to the debtor. Moreover 

the vendor is than entitled to prohibit the subsequent further action with 

the delivered goods, to repossess the proviso goods or if required 

dispute surrendered claims against third parties. The re-possession of 

proviso goods shall not be deemed to waive the agreements of the 

contract, unless the consumer credit regulations are deemed to apply. 

6. Any subsequent further action with the proviso goods happens on behalf 

of the vendor as manufacturer. The new matter becomes a proviso 

goods. Lapses the right of ownership of the vendor due to 

compounding, mixing or further action the purchaser adopts 

immediately his entitled rights of ownership in proportion to the invoice 

value of the proviso goods with respect to the invoice value of the other 

applicable goods as right of ownership. Compensation for damages for 

loss of goods ownership assigns the purchaser as well too the vendor 

as security. 

7. If the value of the assigned securities of the safeguarded obligations 

exceeds in total more than 20% the vendor is obligated in so far as 

claims from the purchaser at his request to release the securities. 

§ 8 Warranty 

1. Notification of damage or shortage must be send to the vendor in 

writing, immediately or at the latest within 8 days after receipt of the 

goods. Defects, which could not be discovered even after careful 

checking within this period, are to be immediately notified to the 

vendor in writing. 

2. If the notification of damage or shortage timely and correctly justified the 

vendor will begin with a subsequent delivery of the complained goods. 

Failure of subsequent delivery within the adequate time span the 

purchaser can by his choice claim compensation discount (reduction) or 

cancel the agreement (contact changes). 

3. Any further warranty rights are herewith excluded, so long as the defect 

is not based on a property failure. 

§ 9 Limited liability 

The liability of the vendor for defective products, in accordance with the law 

of Liability of Defective Products remains unrestricted. Otherwise claims for 

damages for impossible performance, positive obligation 

damages, debt at end of contract and by unauthorised handling are excluded 

unless the vendor or authorised agents have deliberately or negligently 

acted. 

§ 10 Applicable law, place of jurisdiction 

1. For these business agreements and for all legal rights and obligations 

between the vendor and the purchaser shall be governed by the laws of 

Germany. The validity of unified sales right (UN sales right) is herewith 

excluded. 

2. All possible legal differences arising from this contract will have Unna as 

place of exclusive jurisdiction, if the purchaser is a fully qualified 

merchant, a legal person under public law or public special fund. The 

vendor is however also authorised to claim against the purchaser in his 

home locality.
