On the eve of her wedding, one
can only imagine what Meghan
Markle must have been feeling as she
prepared to marry the man she loves
– with the eyes of the world upon her.
It’s no wonder she chose to spend
her last night as a single woman with
her mother, Doria Ragland. The pair
smiled for the cameras as they arrived
on Friday at 6.30pm at Cliveden
House, the grade I-listed hotel in
Berkshire; when asked how she was
feeling, Meghan replied: “Wonderful,
thank you.”
The bride-to-be put a protective
arm around her mother as they
walked into the luxury hotel, where
they were joined by some of Meghan’s
closest friends as well as her dress
designer and hairdresser. The evening
was no doubt a welcome respite for
the 61-year-old yoga instructor and
social worker, who had a whirlwind
few days meeting her daughter’s
future in-laws for the irst time after
touching down in the UK from her
home in Los Angeles last Wednesday.
Earlier on Friday, Doria whom
Prince Harry has described as
“amazing” was introduced to the
Queen at Windsor Castle, joining
Meghan and her future son-in-law for
a traditional English tea with his
grandmother, complete with jam
sandwiches and sponge cake.
On Wednesday afternoon at
Clarence House she had also met the
Prince of Wales, who stepped in at
Meghan’s request to walk her down
the aisle when her own father, Thomas
Markle, was unable to attend. A royal
source said the occasion was “very
jolly” and Doria got on well with the
Prince and the Duchess of Cornwall.
On Thursday she met more
members of the family when she was
introduced to the Duke and Duchess
of Cambridge, as well as pageboy
Prince George and bridesmaid
Princess Charlotte.
