This was certainly an unprecedented royal<br />

wedding in terms of style. Fusing tradition with a<br />

groundbreaking element to reflect Meghan’s<br />

roots, Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Gospel<br />

Choir had the congregation swaying in their seats<br />

with a soulful rendition of Ben E King’sStandByMe.<br />

In a further nod to Meghan’s spiritual<br />

background, the Most Rev. Michael Curry,<br />

presiding bishop and primate of the Episcopal<br />

Church in the US, delivered a rousing address in<br />

which he quoted Baptist minister and civil rights<br />

leader Martin Luther King.<br />

And to the bemusement of more traditional<br />

congregants, he boomed: “Two young people fell<br />

in love and we all showed up!” and: “We gotta get<br />

y’all married!”<br />

But this day was all about Meghan and Harry<br />

tying the knot, and after the Archbishop of<br />

Canterbury invited them to join hands, he<br />

carried out the ritual of wrapping his silk<br />
