Watching the new Duke of
ussex greet his beautiful
e at the altar of St George’s
pel was probably the
wning moment of my
er as a royal correspondent.
The emotional scene, in
which the dashing Prince
Harry lifted Meghan’s veil and
told her, “You look amazing,”
really did bring tears to my
eyes.
And she really did look
amazing. I loved the simplicity
of her gown, teamed with
a sleeker version of her
trademark messy bun – her
freckles still visible through her
low-key make-up.
After six months of writing
about the long-anticipated day,
it was actually happening and I
couldn’t have been happier to
be in Windsor Castle to soak
up the magical atmosphere.
From the moment we
walked through the historic
Henry VIII Gate a few hours
before the ceremony, it felt like
I had stepped into a fairytale.
The heady fragrance of the
and Meghan giggled at the
huge cheer that erupted from
the crowd outside when they
began to exchange their vows.
I had goosebumps as The
Kingdom Choir began to sing
StandbyMe.
And inside Windsor Castle,
where I watched the ceremony
with a select group of
journalists and royal aides, a
few tears of genuine joy were
also shed – as well as lots of
laughs and cheers for the
powerful sermon delivered by
Bishop Michael Curry.
Over the years, I’ve joined
Prince Harry on tour across
the globe as well as at
engagements in the UK and,
while he has always brought
huge energy and enthusiasm
to his role, it felt like something
was missing. Until now.
By his own admission, a life
lived in the public eye made
finding someone willing to
“share the pressure” of his role
a challenge.
So his long-awaited wedding
day was a moment to savour.

stay with me forever.
I had been in Windsor
watching the excitement grow
for three days and finally
standing in the aisle that the
happy couple would later walk
down was thrilling.
Watching Harry and
Meghan become man and wife
in front of their loved ones, it
was impossible not to share in
their joy.
I was hugely impressed by
Meghan, who was utterly
beautiful and serene – her
family’s dificult run-up to the
wedding day just a distant
memory by now.
I felt such empathy for her
mother Doria as she shed tears
of pride and joy – and I
couldn’t stop smiling as Harry
With his new wife Meghan at
his side, he’s part of a new
global power couple and one
that promises to have a huge
impact. This is a real love
match – one that has captivated
the world and it’s wonderful to
see Harry so blissfully happy.
As they stepped out into the
dazzling sunshine for the irst
time as the Duke and Duchess
of Sussex, they sealed the deal
with a kiss. The crowds packed
into the Castle precincts and
the cobbled streets of Windsor
roared their approval.
I’ll remember the palpable
excitement on the streets of
Windsor, the uplifting sunshine
and the beautiful scent of
those flowers for the rest of
my life.
It was a real privileg
share in the magic of t
special day and I can’t wai
follow their adventures a
husband and wife.
