Junior Derek D’Amore and senior Seattle Buhite, both of <strong>West</strong> <strong>Allegheny</strong>; David Ball, Shelby Gill, and Rachel Zolkiewicz, seniors at Montour; and James Latimer, senior at Sto-Rox; all placed first in their events on April 19. The students’ professional skills, honed and polished in their Parkway programs, were judged on both written and performance tests. Derek D’Amore won the Collision Repair Technology competition, Seattle Buhite won the Health Occupations Portfolio event, and James Latimer, David Ball, Shelby Gill, and Rachel Zolkiewicz won the Entrepreneurship team competition for the second year in a row. These students are eligible to participate in the national championships, held in Kansas City, Missouri, in <strong>June</strong>. In all, 19 Parkway students competed. Also placing in the competition were Moon Area student Jesse Straffon, who placed second in Automotive Refinishing, and Carlynton student Alexandra Barnes, who place third in Cosmetology. Parkway students earning the opportunity to compete at the state level by placing first during regional competitions were: Adam Hosie, Alexander Schenken, Elizabeth Revuelta, Rachel Sailor, Elizabeth Burke, Marty Davis, Steve Lengyel, Emily McConkey, Trevor Urban, Jessica Barton, and Nathan Bateman. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit student organization that serves students enrolled in career and technical education programs nationwide. ������������������������������ ��������������������� Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, <strong>June</strong> 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., for students starting classes in July.
