Jesus Teaching Humility<br />

<strong>John</strong> 13:1-17<br />

The scripture that forms <strong>the</strong> less<strong>on</strong> for this<br />

week is so rich, and so comprehensive in <strong>the</strong><br />

instructi<strong>on</strong> that it gives, that we quote it entire,<br />

from <strong>the</strong> Revised Versi<strong>on</strong>. The mere reading <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

text cannot fail to benefit <strong>the</strong> reader. Give it careful<br />

and prayerful attenti<strong>on</strong>.<br />

The Example<br />

"Now before <strong>the</strong> feast <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Passover, Jesus<br />

knowing that His hour was come that He should<br />

depart out <strong>of</strong> this world unto <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r, having<br />

loved His own which were in <strong>the</strong> world, He loved<br />

<strong>the</strong>m unto <strong>the</strong> end. And during supper, <strong>the</strong> devil<br />

having already put it into <strong>the</strong> heart <strong>of</strong> Judas<br />

Iscariot, Sim<strong>on</strong>'s s<strong>on</strong>, to betray Him, Jesus<br />

knowing that <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r had given all things into<br />

His hands, and that He came forth from God, and<br />
