mighty work was committed to Him, and from<br />

earliest childhood He knew that He must be about<br />

His Fa<strong>the</strong>r's business, yet He seems to have made<br />

no haste to appear in public. Shall we say that He<br />

was not doing His Fa<strong>the</strong>r's business all <strong>the</strong> time?<br />

Not by any means. What a less<strong>on</strong> to us, who are so<br />

pr<strong>on</strong>e to think that we are not doing any active<br />

service for <strong>the</strong> Master unless we are engaged in<br />

some public service. And <strong>the</strong>n note how <strong>of</strong>ten in<br />

<strong>the</strong> very short time He had for public labour, we<br />

find Him attending some feast or o<strong>the</strong>r. He never<br />

seems to have been in a hurry. Why not? The<br />

reas<strong>on</strong> is that He dwelt in eternity, and laboured in<br />

its strength. He who has all eternity, need never be<br />

flurried; even so with Him who labours with <strong>the</strong><br />

power <strong>of</strong> an endless life. But whe<strong>the</strong>r attending a<br />

wedding feast or preaching to <strong>the</strong> multitudes, Jesus<br />

was about His Fa<strong>the</strong>r's business. The glory <strong>of</strong> God<br />

was always revealed, whe<strong>the</strong>r He ate or drank or<br />

preached.<br />

The wine gave out, but what mattered that<br />

when <strong>the</strong> true wine was present? The element <strong>of</strong><br />
