SEED TO OAKS <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Plan</strong><br />

Executive Summary<br />

We believe real and lasting change is within reach. In FY <strong>2018</strong>, we increased the number of<br />

churches we have mobilized from 6 to 25. We helped churches place 37 people into full-time<br />

jobs – accruing over $750,000 in earned income, in collaboration with 12 businesses. We<br />

helped over 750 families receive free health services, including 128 tooth extractions, at a time<br />

when Kentucky is tightening requirements for health coverage among the poor. We launched<br />

two educational summer academies with a proprietary gospel-centered curriculum that helped<br />

100% of children who attended every day to become academically ready for the school year.<br />

And, we facilitated 8 neighborood assessments helping to position churches for greater gospel<br />

reach in their own neighborhoods.<br />

This year is even more promising. We are expanding<br />

our health services, bringing job taining and<br />

placements to new regions, multiplying our education<br />

efforts and launching our neighborhood assessments<br />

to chuches outside Kentucky.<br />

Seed to Oaks projected results from our <strong>2018</strong>/<strong>2019</strong><br />

strategic plan, and the $580,000 operating budget<br />

include:<br />

1) The expansion of our neighborhood assessments<br />

to 20 new church partners. Our Assessments are<br />

designed to help churches and church plants<br />

understand their own neighborhood, so they can<br />

build a strategic plan to reach them with the<br />

gospel.<br />

2) The expansion of our health efforts to 30 health<br />

clinics with the goal of reaching over 3,000+<br />

residents along with the launch of a navigation<br />

system that will connect people to a medical<br />

home for long-term care.<br />

3) The placement of 75 full-time placements (over<br />

$1.1MM in earned income projected for families<br />

not currently working)<br />

and a 70% 6-month retention rate through<br />

JobOne, our job skills and placement program,<br />

which is operated through local churches.<br />

4) The multiplication of our summer academies to<br />

six next summer. Our academies are a reading<br />

readiness and mathematics program run by certified<br />

teachers that helps ready children for the academic<br />

school year.<br />

5) The introduction of a new leader’s cohort, which<br />

concentrates on leadership development for<br />

ministry leaders and pastors, designed to help them<br />

to mobilize church members to community<br />

involvement and commitment to mercy ministry.<br />

We believe that the success of Seed to Oaks is<br />

measured by the degree local churches, not Seed to<br />

Oaks, having a powerful and visible presence in their<br />

neighborhoods. We are unique in that our aim is to<br />

mobilize local churches to the front lines of social<br />

change so that more people hear the gospel of Jesus<br />

Christ and trust him as Savior.
