4 SEED TO OAKS Business Plan Executive Summary We believe real and lasting change is within reach. In FY 2018, we increased the number of churches we have mobilized from 6 to 25. We helped churches place 37 people into full-time jobs – accruing over $750,000 in earned income, in collaboration with 12 businesses. We helped over 750 families receive free health services, including 128 tooth extractions, at a time when Kentucky is tightening requirements for health coverage among the poor. We launched two educational summer academies with a proprietary gospel-centered curriculum that helped 100% of children who attended every day to become academically ready for the school year. And, we facilitated 8 neighborood assessments helping to position churches for greater gospel reach in their own neighborhoods. This year is even more promising. We are expanding our health services, bringing job taining and placements to new regions, multiplying our education efforts and launching our neighborhood assessments to chuches outside Kentucky. Seed to Oaks projected results from our 2018/2019 strategic plan, and the $580,000 operating budget include: 1) The expansion of our neighborhood assessments to 20 new church partners. Our Assessments are designed to help churches and church plants understand their own neighborhood, so they can build a strategic plan to reach them with the gospel. 2) The expansion of our health efforts to 30 health clinics with the goal of reaching over 3,000+ residents along with the launch of a navigation system that will connect people to a medical home for long-term care. 3) The placement of 75 full-time placements (over $1.1MM in earned income projected for families not currently working) and a 70% 6-month retention rate through JobOne, our job skills and placement program, which is operated through local churches. 4) The multiplication of our summer academies to six next summer. Our academies are a reading readiness and mathematics program run by certified teachers that helps ready children for the academic school year. 5) The introduction of a new leader’s cohort, which concentrates on leadership development for ministry leaders and pastors, designed to help them to mobilize church members to community involvement and commitment to mercy ministry. We believe that the success of Seed to Oaks is measured by the degree local churches, not Seed to Oaks, having a powerful and visible presence in their neighborhoods. We are unique in that our aim is to mobilize local churches to the front lines of social change so that more people hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and trust him as Savior.
