// INTRODUCTION<br />

The <strong>Danube</strong> <strong>Cycle</strong> <strong>Path</strong> has run for over 30<br />

years, through one of Europe’s oldest cultural<br />

and diverse landscapes. From the former<br />

bishopric of <strong>Passau</strong>, one can reach the<br />

Slovak capital <strong>Bratislava</strong> by passing through<br />

the likes of Linz, the UNESCO City of Media<br />

Arts, as well as the romantic Wachau and<br />

the former imperial residence of Vienna. In<br />

between, picturesque sites reveal the many<br />

secrets of the legendary <strong>Danube</strong> region. The<br />

<strong>Danube</strong> <strong>Cycle</strong> <strong>Path</strong>, with its hardly noticeable<br />

gradients, is ideally driven downstream and<br />

while, a fitting challenge for cycling enthusiasts,<br />

remains an enjoyment for families and<br />

those more leisurely inclined.<br />

// LENGTH<br />

The <strong>Danube</strong> <strong>Cycle</strong> <strong>Path</strong> <strong>from</strong> <strong>Passau</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>Bratislava</strong><br />

has a length of about 381 km and can generally<br />

cycled on both banks.<br />

// NUMBER OF STAGES<br />

The <strong>Danube</strong> <strong>Cycle</strong> <strong>Path</strong> is divided in<strong>to</strong> 17 attractive<br />

stages across both riverbanks. The stages are between<br />

18 and 68 km long and can be under<strong>to</strong>ok<br />

individually. On average, it takes about one hour<br />

for 10 – 20 km, depending on individual fitness<br />

and bike type.<br />

// BED+BIKE ESTABLISHMENT<br />

Approximately 53 establishments between <strong>Passau</strong><br />

and Vienna have been approved by the ADFC as<br />

Bed+Bike establishments. In addition of secure bikeparking<br />

spaces, these facilities provide drying rooms<br />

for wet clothes as well as e-charging stations.<br />

// FABULOUS LANDSCAPES<br />

Along the route, cyclists will encounter exciting<br />

landscapes such as the <strong>Danube</strong>-bend Schlögen<br />

or the Wachau-region, a UNESCO World Heritage<br />

Site. Equally, cities such as Vienna, Linz or <strong>Passau</strong><br />

are also reached during the ride; as are the St.<br />

Florian Abbey and the picturesque Melk Abbey.<br />
