Maryam d’Abo suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage in 2007 and is lucky to be alive. Her experience
inspired this film and leads the viewer on a personal journey of recovery, giving a sense of
hope to those who are isolated by their condition that is not seen therefore often misunderstood.
Many first hand stories celebrate man’s life force and his will to survive. The film concerns all human
beings, dealing with the fragility of the extraordinary brain of which we know surprisingly little.
Maryam d’Abo talks to others who have suffered brain injury, including Robert McCrum, former
literary editor of The Observer; Pat Martino, jazz guitarist and music producer Quincy Jones.

Born in 1936 in London. Hudson started his cinematography career in Paris
as an editor. After moving in London, he headed a documentary film company.
Hudsons first filmmaking job was as a second unit director on Alan
Parker’s MIDNIGHT EXPRESS. In 1981 hudson directed historical drama
CHARIOTS OF FIRE. The film won 4 Oscar, including best picture; two prizes
at the Cannes Film Festival and three prizes at BAFTA. Music for the film was
written by Greek composer Vangelis, who is also a composer for RUPTURE:
LIVING WITH MY BROKEN BRAIN. In 2003 Hudson married Maryam d’Abo.
