Middle School Dance Class

This class is for anyone in middle school! This is a fun dance class
where the students will learn a little bit of many styles of dance.
We will learn some hip-hop, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and partner work
dance. Each class will start with a warm up to work on strength
and flexibility. Then we will move on to working on dance
technique and learning dance movements. Each class will end with
working on a dance routine. This class will also work on dance
chorography and how to create their own dance!
Ages: 11-14

Modern/Lyrical 1
Tuesday
Y member rate: $43/month
Y non-member rate: $86/month
Modern/lyrical is more creative and less strict than ballet, while
still working on dance technique, strength, flexibility, and
musicality. Class will start with a warm up to work on technique
and flexibility. The class will move to center and across the floor
work to explore different types of movements while maintaining
technique. The class will end working on a combination that puts
modern and lyrical together as a whole dance. Modern and lyrical
are very well-rounded forms of dance that fully explore dance as a
whole. Students will work to achieve a full split. Black yoga/stretch
pants and black jazz shoes or ballet slippers required. A holiday
and spring recital will be held. Information on recitals and costume
fees will be emailed to parents.
