Junior Joeys Convention 2009
Wow! That is the only word I can use to
describe the fun we had with the junior joey
class sessions!
This year there
were five students
willing to learn
and grow in their
clowning experience.
We started with
introductions and
then quickly moved
on with skit practice.
“Glitter Sniff,” “Boo
Boo,” “Hippie,”
“Glee” and “Sparkle”
had their own ideas
for skits and were
quickly integrated
into the skit schedule.
After watching the
make-up competition,
the juniors fine-tuned
their make-up with
the help of teachers,
Cheri Venturi, Pat
Roeser, and Toni
Dufrene. Later
that afternoon Dan
Langwell, with the
help of John Kral,
had the juniors
inflating and creating
different balloon sculptures.
On to the next day and more skit practice
and then Angel Morales’ Latin Birthday
Party class. Angel had the juniors playing
so many games that their heads were
spinning! What a great way to learn about
another clowning culture!
Friday's giant balloon contest had the
juniors showing their creativity with a
balloon crane, a balloon fish, a lady balloon,
and other silly creations.
Connie Lyons had the juniors doing
an “Ants in the Pants” craft and Dawn
Pearson taught the many ways of clown
characterization and performance. Steve
Kissell's class gave the juniors some ideas
for party games.
As always, the juniors were swept away
as face painting models. They just have that
perfect “canvas”!
During group skit, the children showed
some of their skills while they performed
several of their skits between breaks.
Time for the “Showcase” and Red Nose
Critique. It was so much fun to watch the
children as they performed their skits and
