President’s Comments by Tom King WOW! What a convention. All at COAI 2009 Convention in Clarksville, IN had a great time. If you missed the convention, you missed a fun time. Thanks InKy Clowns for a job well done. I want to thank everyone who came to the convention and to those who worked so hard behind the scene to make things work so smoothly. When the convention was visited by the “Unknown Gorilla” were you able to guess whom it was? Thanks to all of the people who were willing to play and wear the costume. No matter how hard you try, sometimes there are people you just can’t disguise! Be sure to check out all of this year’s convention news and photos in this and future issues of The New Calliope. Now I have to decide if I need to unpack my suitcase or just keep it on the ready for next year’s big COAI 25th Anniversary Celebration during the convention to be held in Houston, TX and hosted by the Cheerful Clowns Alley. Remember, everything is bigger and better in Texas! Look out Houston, here we come! Keep your ears and eyes open for all of the cool events planned for our 25 th Anniversary. Be sure to send in your photos and stories to be used in the anniversary issues of The New Calliope. Have you planned your Clown Week activities? I look forward to a busy week clowning with my home alley the Kanawha Klowns, in the Charleston-Huntington, WV area. We have filled our clown plate with lots of activities and hope you and your alley do the same. Clown Week is a great time to put new life into your hometown clowning. Be sure to take lots of photos and keep a detailed list of all of your activities and send the photos and an article to The New Calliope. Our Editor, Pat Newton, looks forward to and counts on your participation by sending in articles, photos and suggestions to keep our publication the number one source of clown arts information in the world. Again, thanks to the attendees of this years COAI convention. I hope that you share the education from this year’s event with your peers who were unable to attend.
