State Police sobriety
checkpoint Aug. 17 and 18
Colonel Kerry A. Gilpin,
Superintendent of the
Massachusetts State Police,
announced that a “Sobriety
Checkpoint” will be implemented
by the Massachusetts
State Police on a Public Way in
the Counties named below.
The purpose is to further educate
the motoring public and
strengthen the public’s awareness
to the need of detecting and
removing those motorists who
operate under the influence of
alcohol and/or drugs from our
roadways. It will be operated
during varied hours, the selection
of vehicles will not be arbitrary,
safety will be assured, and
any inconveniences to motorists
will be minimized with advance
notice to reduce fear and anxiety.

was checked out and all is quiet.
Caller reported a suspicious
person in blue hospital attire on

11:53 p.m. Officer checked area
and found no one fitting that
description.

Center on Friday at 12:37 a.m.
Officer reports all appears to be
in order.
Suspicious auto parking for
several hours reported at the 99
Restaurant at 317 Salem St.
on Friday at 12:58 a.m. Officer
reports operator was picked
up and vehicle will be parked
overnight.
