Integrated security solution for
London commercial property
Derwent London, a FTSE 250 Index British-based
property development and investment firm with a
property portfolio worth £4.9 billion, acquired the
White Chapel Building in central London in
December 2015.
A complete refurbishment of the building
meant that a new security system that delivered
solutions for tenants was required.
Antron Security project managed the design
and installation of the access control and security
system and Inner Range provided the core access
control and intruder detection system.
Integriti provides the core security solution for
the White Chapel Building. The system integrates
with thirdparty products to become a PSIM
system, managing not only security and building
automation but also people and business
continuity processes.
In this instance, Integriti allows around 2,000
people troublefree access to their approved parts
of the building, as well as managing visitors
efficiently and allowing security managers to
monitor events easily and remotely.
The installation includes 35 CCTV cameras to
allow security managers to view live and recorded
events across the site. This includes remote
Replacement door entry
system for Berkeley Lodge
Videx Security was recently chosen to provide a
replacement door entry system for Berkeley
Lodge, a privately-owned apartment block in
Ashtead in Surrey that consists of nine flats.
Built in the late 1990s, the existing door entry
system at Berkeley Lodge was aging, and the
system had poor speech quality and a lot of
interference and crackling on the line. Installer
Olympic Security Systems advised that repairing
monitoring, if security managers are off site. Access
is via four IDL Fastlane lobby turnstiles to ensure
only permitted persons can access areas beyond the
reception and lobby area. Tenants and visitors can
only access approved floors via lifts using security
credentials on their access card or smartphone.
Tenants and staff were set up to use their
smartphones to open doors and other smart devices
with the HID Mobile Access ‘Twist and Go’ mobile
app. The Integriti system can read and check
security credentials from users’ mobile phones to
determine whether they are allowed access. A
BluePoint visitor pass system was also installed and
integrated with Integriti to ensure a secure, reliable
and trusted method of managing visitors.
the existing system would probably not address
all the issues and that they therefore
recommended that a new door entry solution
should be installed using the same
infrastructure and wiring.
Martin Sturmey, who lives in one of the flats
and is responsible for the block’s day-to-day
management, said: “After a bit of research, we
decided that the best option was to install a
new system and reviewed a range of solutions
from various manufacturers. We decided to go
with the Videx 4000 panel with 3000 series
audio handsets. The modular nature of
the 4000 series enabled us to have just
the nine buttons that we needed. The
3000 series handsets were marginally
larger than our existing handsets and
therefore could be fitted without any
decoration issues. They also allowed
each resident to set the call tone
volume, a useful feature that we didn’t
have with our existing handsets.”
Olympic Security Systems supplied,
installed and commissioned the new
system. As no new wiring needed to be
done, the installer simply had to carry
out a straight forward system
replacement, meaning downtime was
minimal.
Martin Sturmey added: “The
residents really like the new system and
have commented on the attractive
design of the panel and the handsets as
well as the excellent quality of speech.”
