were given the chance to meet<br />
industrial robots for the first time<br />
as part of an event organised by<br />
national awareness programme<br />
Primary Engineer which was<br />
hosted by Fanuc UK.<br />
About 20 pupils, aged between<br />
eight and ten were invited to the<br />
company’s purpose-built facility in<br />
Ansty Park, Coventry, in July to see<br />
first-hand what future careers in<br />
engineering could involve.<br />
The children also used Fanuc’s<br />
showroom to race soapbox cars<br />
that they had constructed <strong>with</strong> the<br />
help of their teachers and advisors<br />
at Primary Engineer which is a<br />
national programme that aims to<br />
bridge the gap between industry<br />
and education through events,<br />
competitions and training.<br />

Apprenticeship<br />
scheme is rewarded<br />
after its expansion<br />
PATS delivers engineering skills<br />
Tray sealing specialist Proseal UK<br />
has been named ‘Large Business<br />
Apprenticeship Employer of the<br />
Year’ by Macclesfield College,<br />
underlining the company’s<br />
commitment to developing the<br />
next generation of engineers.<br />
The honour comes after<br />
Proseal opened a new dedicated<br />
training centre at its global<br />
headquarters in Adlington<br />
and significantly expanded its<br />
apprenticeship scheme, increasing<br />
its capacity to provide training.<br />
The awards ceremony at Mottram<br />
Hall, Macclesfield also saw<br />
Proseal second-year apprentice<br />
Louis Wright receive an individual<br />
award for ‘Engineering Apprentice<br />
of the Year’.<br />

A South Wales-based company is celebrating 50 years of<br />
manufacturing its expanding range of products in Europe<br />
Eriez Magnetics Europe<br />
marks its 50th anniversary<br />
this year having expanded<br />
its products, manufacturing<br />
facilities and staffing levels<br />
in this time.<br />
The company was<br />
established when Bob<br />
Merwin, ceo of Eriez in the<br />
US recognised the opportunity<br />
for a European manufacturing<br />
site. Today, the company<br />
employs over 120 staff at its<br />
European HQ in Caerphilly,<br />
South Wales where it designs,<br />
develops and manufactures<br />
50 years of Eriez Europe is commemorated in this special staff photograph<br />
magnetic separation, metal<br />
detection, fluid filtration and<br />
vibratory equipment.<br />
Over the last fifty years,<br />
the company has secured key<br />
strategic acquisitions that<br />
have expanded its product<br />
offering, including the<br />
purchase of metal detection<br />
