UWAI APP HELPS BREAK DOWN BARRIERS
The UWAI app has been designed to
connect local businesses with non-
English speaking travellers.
UWAI, which translates to travel
aboard, helps provide information
about South Australian businesses to
non-English speaking Chinese tourists,
also helping Chinese tourists overcome
language barriers.
UWAI’s Industry Marketing Manager
(SA) Alex Chen says the UWAI platform
gives Chinese tourists the ability to
review business and location details,
as well as products and menus in their
native language.
“It also helps to make ordering food easier
with translated menus,” says Alex.
“Chinese tourists can read the menu in
their own language and then confirm their
order on our UWAI platform in English.
“Food is the number one activity for
Chinese tourists, so this function really
helps to break down some of the
barriers to one of the daily essential
requirements for Chinese tourists, making
communication seamless.”
The UWAI app helps businesses translate
their details into the two main Chinese
dialects and is linked to Chinese social
media channels, making it easy for
Chinese tourists to share their experiences
with friends and family.
“The platform can also provide analysis and
reporting of statistics, which each business
can access via the UWAI portal using their
private log-in details,” says Alex.
“We want Australian businesses to maintain
their Australian identity yet be welcoming
to people who may not be confident with
English,” says Alex.
