Quand y aller? / When to go?
Les îles Barren sont sous climat chaud et
humide. Il est donc préférable d’y aller entre avril
et novembre, c’est à dire durant la saison sèche.
En cette période, la température varie entre 24°C
et 30°C.
The climate on the Barren Islands is hot and
humid. Therefore, it is preferable to go there
between April and November, ie. during the
dry season. At this time, the temperature varies
between 24°C and 30°C.
Comment s’y rendre? / How to get there?
Maintirano se situe à 600 km à l’ouest
d’Antananarivo. Vous pouvez rejoindre cette
ville depuis la capitale en empruntant la RN1
vers Tsiroanomandidy. De Maintirano au village
de Sahoany, le voyage se fait en 4x4. Pour
atteindre les îles Barren, choisissez entre une
traversée en bateau en moteur ou en "jahazi",
plus traditionnel, à voile triangulaire. Possibilité
de rejoindre l’archipel par voie fluviale depuis la
Région Menabe, à Belo/Tsiribihina.
Maintirano is located 600 km west of
Antananarivo. You can reach this city from
the capital by taking the RN1 towards
Tsiroanomandidy. The trip from Maintirano to
the village of Sahoany is made by 4WD. To reach
the Barren Islands, you may choose between
crossing by motorboat or by a more traditional
"jahazi" with a triangular sail. It is possible to
reach the archipelago by water from the Menabe
Region, at Belo/Tsiribihina.

Des nuitées en bivouac, sous tente à double toit
s’imposent sur les îles Barren. Néanmoins, des
pensions complètes ou des hôtels dans le village
de Maintirano sont également disponibles afin
de vous donner le maximum de confort pendant
votre séjour. L’hôtel « Rovasoa » et l’hôtel « La
Croix du sud » sont les plus recommandés.
Overnight stays in bivouac, under a double roof

village of Maintirano, so you can enjoy maximum

Les fruits de mer sont servis à volonté sur les îles
Barren dans différentes gargotes. Vous découvrirez
des plats à base de coco, la gastronomie
typiquement Maintirano. Vous pouvez également
manger au restaurant de votre hôtel.
Seafood is served in abundance on the Barren
Islands in different taverns. Enjoy coconut dishes,
the typical Maintirano gastronomy. You can also eat
at the restaurant of your hotel.
Que voir? / What to see?
Vous aurez l’occasion d’observer les pêcheurs
au gros et les plongeurs dans les environs.
Les bords du lac de Bemamba, au nord de
Morondava vous permettent d’observer
différentes espèces d’oiseaux, dans leur milieu
naturel. Aussi, surprenez-vous par l’étonnant
massif d’Antsingy.
