ground, adding to their shame. Depending on the time of year,<br />
temperatures could reach upwards of a hundred degrees<br />
without any relief. Imagine Jesus’ struggle, the pain, the<br />
suffering—for you, me, the world. And for over three hours!<br />
Through the crucifixion, we see Jesus was both the longawaited<br />
Messiah as well as the Son of God, which, ironically,<br />
was confirmed through the climactic confession of a Roman<br />
centurion at the foot of Jesus’ cross.<br />
Discover the Heart of God<br />
• After reading <strong>Mark</strong> 15:1–41, what did you notice,<br />
perhaps for the first time? What questions do you<br />
have? What did you learn about the heart of God?<br />
• Pilate gave the crowd a choice between releasing<br />
Jesus <strong>and</strong> someone else. Who was that person,<br />
<strong>and</strong> who did the people choose?<br />
• How did the Roman soldiers mock Jesus?<br />
• Explain all that went into Jesus’ crucifixion,<br />
