Go along to a fun art session especially for teenagers. Teen Artspace gives adolescents the
opportunity to participate in art and craft activities and hang out with friends in a creative
atmosphere. You will learn how to use various art and craft materials. The class is free. Sessions
will be held Tuesday, 4.30-6pm, at the Darfield Library and Service Centre, and Wednesday,
4-5.30pm, at the Leeston Library and Service Centre.
Rhymetime is a fun, interactive
session of stories, songs, rhymes
and bubbles. Aimed at children
under 18-months-old.

Among the many attractions, like stalls offering
delicious homemade jams and speciality
foods, handmade crafts, a wide range of
plants and a large selection of second-hand
books, there will be the always-popular
Country Auction.
This year, the auction will feature locally made
garden art, while a competition between the
local craftsmen to see whose art draws the
highest bid will add extra flavour and fun to the
event.
The fair is being held at the
Hororata Domain on Labour
Day, October 22. The date
also marks the end of the
Christchurch City Council’s
Beca Heritage Week, during
which the 125th anniversary
of women’s suffrage is
being celebrated.
Hororata has a historic
connection with this
heritage celebration, as it
was local resident Sir John
Hall who pushed the bill
through Parliament that
gave women the vote.
