Often, Doing the Right Thing may not be an<br />

easy decision and may not be popular and may<br />

even be painful. “As leaders, doing the right<br />

thing for the right reasons might require you<br />

to drink the bitter cup in form of ridicule,<br />

rejection, and anger. Your human tendency will<br />

be to try and avoid the pain. Leading like Jesus<br />

(and Effective & Enduring Leadership) will call<br />

you to proceed in faith and to trust in God's<br />

grace to provide you with the courage to do the<br />

right thing and finish the task.” ~ Lead Like<br />

Jesus. When we place our faith in God and<br />

choose to Do the Right Thing, the Holy Spirit<br />

springs into action on our behalf providing<br />

the wisdom, strength, and guidance we need<br />

to carry through with our decision.<br />

1~ Is it Biblically correct? E & E Leaders<br />

weigh their decisions and actions against<br />

God's Word. If the decision or action does not<br />

align with God's Word then it must be rethought<br />

so that it does. John 1:1-5 tells us, “In<br />

the beginning was the Word, and the Word was<br />

with God, and the Word was God. He was with<br />

God in the beginning. Through him all things<br />

were made; without him nothing was made<br />

that has been made. In him was life, and that<br />

life was the light of all mankind. The light<br />

shines in the darkness, and the darkness has<br />

not overcome it.” Since the Word was there in<br />

the beginning and the Word was with God<br />

and the Word was God; does it not make sense<br />

that the Word is good enough for us to<br />

measure our lives against? Since all things<br />

were made through God and nothing that has<br />

been made has been made without God; then<br />

perhaps we should pay close attention to what<br />

the Master Creator has to say. Since God is the<br />

light of all mankind and darkness cannot<br />

overcome that light; should we not take<br />

advantage of that light in our lives? Effective<br />

& Enduring Leaders understand the truth and<br />

significance of God's Word and seek to align<br />

all their decisions and actions with it and<br />

teach their people to do the same. Proverbs<br />

18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a fortified<br />

tower, the righteous run to it and are safe.”<br />

“If you only use the Bible to study and apply its<br />

practical wisdom about dealing with people<br />

and overcoming internal challenges, it still<br />

would stand alone as the greatest book ever<br />

written.” ~ Lead Like Jesus. Is the Bible real?<br />

Is it accurate? Is it true?<br />
