REUSE AND RECYCLE
Do you have maps you will no longer need?
Return them, or leave them at the hotel so
other tourists can reuse them. If you go
shopping, take a cloth bag with you.
RESPECT THE CULTURE
Part of sustainable tourism is aiming for the least
amount of impact on the communities and cities you
visit. Every destination has its customs and
traditions. Respect and consider these when
planning your trip.
FOLLOW THE RULES
The rules are established to protect the
patrimony. Stay on the paths, avoid using a
camera with flash when asked to, and keep
quiet when walking through nature in
order to avoid startling the animals.
CONSUME LOCAL
PRODUCTS
Buy handicrafts made by communities rather
than imported goods, and take the time to
visit a local market to check out regional
produce. Act sustainably and eat healthily.
RESEARCH THE COMPANIES
YOU TRAVEL WITH
Contract tours run by legal agencies that work to protect
national heritage and that treat their employees and
clients well. Take their certifications and any actions of
social responsibility into account.
